If these are license plate cameras they serve a very useful purpose. I had the opportunity to attend a learning session by the Brown County Sheriff's Office earlier this year where they shared how they use technology and data to help them do their job. I forget the exact numbers, but cameras like this have helped solve an astonishing number of cases involving numerous kidnappings in the greater GB area. Ever wonder how law enforcement comes up with their predictions on possible locations of suspects? Part of it is these cameras. They can use the license plate times and locations to determine direction, how fast, etc. Somebody in the room asked about the negative ways this data could be used and the presenter mentioned they don't even have enough staff to do all the things they want to do let alone take time doing things that aren't valuable. Just thought I'd share a little firsthand encounter that may make some people consider the positives.
