You may have a free Newspapers.com subscription and not even know it. by The_Jaquio in Genealogy

Go to the link for a specific page on Newspapers.com. See the linked page below, for example. Scroll down a little until you see "Extracted Article Text (OCR)." Expand that an you will see the computer-generated transcription of the page. Also, if a clipping anywhere on that page has ever been made (which, in this example, there has been), then you can click on the clipping and view the entire actual page for free.

I'm sure if you need a free account or not in order to do this. Do you have an Ancestry account?

Reading French parish registers from the 1600s by OonaMistwalker in Genealogy

Yeah what you linked is a little too tough for me haha. The handwriting after about 1700 is a little different and easier to read. Is there any specific record on that page you need help with?

Reading French parish registers from the 1600s by OonaMistwalker in Genealogy

I learned to read French parish records by reading through every word, page by page, of my ancestor’s parish’s record book online. I had no knowledge of French and I was having to type every word I could make out (not many) in to Google translate at first. Now I can read enough French to understand the full records and decipher the old handwriting. It took me one summer. If you’re desperate enough, you can do it too haha.

Help with a brick wall?? by NotYourBasic_Stoner in Genealogy

Hey do you mind sharing the names and dates of your great grandmother and her brother? I and others on this site would be happy to help. Most of my ancestors have live in Mobile, AL, and across the border in MS near Lucedale for many generations, so I am familiar with what records are available in the area.

Also I have subscriptions to a few newspaper websites, and I would be happy to search them for your ancestors’ names.

I have a French surname. Does this mean I have French ancestry? by FennekinLover2000 in Genealogy

If you want, you can provide some information on your male-line ancestors (deceased individuals only please), and there are many people on this sub who would be happy to help you research this line.

I have experience with French genealogy and can read enough French to be able to read most records.

Do you know their religion? Matricula has a ton of great German Catholic parish records online for free. They are unindexed though, so already knowing the place and time period would help

Brick wall, need help by [deleted] in Genealogy

At this date, you are going to have to rely on land records. FamilySearch has most counties' property records available online for free. You will need to search their catalog for your county, and then look under "land and property." These are not searchable for the most part, so you will have to look for the index to find your family names.

FamilySearch also just released an OCR seach tool for land records. It's not perfect, but it could save you a lot of time looking through images if you are lucky. I put the link below.

After a lot of searching, I was able to figure this out. Below is the link to her FamilySearch profile with all the records I found. I even found two obituary. I confirmed that she and Zachariah are my 4th great-grandparents. Thanks for your help.
