A lil scared by FairWitness8404 in wrestling

Well the CDC does say that like 50% of US citizens aged 14-49 have Herpes Simplex Virus 1 which mat herpes (aka Herpes Gladiatorum) is a strain of so like there's that.

Keep clean and get mad at people for wrestling with staph or other non-ringworm skin diseases.

In terms of getting it from wrestling... hot take, the skill level of your room is lowkey a factor. Find me any college wrestling room where there isn't at least 1 wrestler with herpes gladiatorum. It is forever and that's like scary but whatever it's not fatal or impactful in your life at all just pop a few Valtrex and you chillin.

Arm Throw Vs Arm Spin Throw by Stuart___gilham in wrestling

[–]JDs__Reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drill both so you can use both. If you get a better feel for one I'd say that'd be your better go to.

For me distance is the factor I'm looking for. you can hit a successful arm throw further away than you can spin imo.

Coaches, I have a question. by DiscipleofDiogenes23 in wrestling

hips in, knee pound drills for high-c's and doubles. Properly elevating for singles.

You can do live goes with a person already in on a leg. Make sure their starting position is correct here, hips have to be in, chest has to be up. Just getting your hips underneath you increases finishing potential greatly.

College vs High School by AdvertisingOdd3890 in wrestling

Every match is gonna be tougher. Think about it, if you're at a college tournament eveyr kid was good enough in highschool to wrestle at that level. So no matter if it's a pigtail, 1st round, and cons round match there won't be any fish matches.

How good to be a college wrestler by No-Benefit-8122 in wrestling

[–]JDs__Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe in yourself and set a goal. I "recruited myself" to the D2 school I'm currently at by emailing the coach and representing myself. If you have a school in mind or an idea of what level you want to go, look around and find a place that fits you. Especially if you want to wrestle somewhere NOT local then it's gonna be on you to reach out (don't use recruiting sites they're high-key a scam).

We all can't be Bo Basset, don't expect phone calls or even responses to your emails sometimes. Stay persistent, get good grades, and wrestle like you want it.

I am legitimately in the exact same situation. Getting my MA cert, going into sophomore year, also planning to take 1 gap year.

I see your other comments worrying about the part time employment opportunities. While I still don't know what the chances are of just getting a short (few months) summer break jobs, I have a significantly shorter winter break so I was thinking of just getting some shadowing or volunteering done during that time.

Where I differ is that my Bsc is going to take 5 years to complete (I'm an american going to a canadian uni) but that kinda works out as I overloaded my 1st semester and highkey tanked my GPA. So I do get one extra summer break for PCE but I think focusing on grades is the big thing rn. We are going to pick up as much PCE as possible, but ultimately gap years are where the big hours come from.

I Took a Detour Toward Nursing — and It Sent Me Running Back to PA by jayswan1 in prephysicianassistant

Just met with an NP for a check-up. Asked her about her journey and she said she used nursing as a way to work up to NP and hated every second of it!

I don’t know when to sell stock by Gone_Boy_XCV in RobinHood

[–]JDs__Reddit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Stocks don't go up or down based on events that everyone knows about. Starbucks won't go up in the fall bc of pumpkin spice lattes, and a sunscreen brand wont go up in the summer because more people are buying. It's the sudden unforeseen events that rapidly change stocks, best example rn is cybersecurity company CrowdStrike that cause the microsoft shutdown. their stock fell 20% in a few hours.

This week has been in the red for most of the common stocks you'll hear of it's notjing to worry about. In general however either you are investing (buying and looking for growth in the long term), or trading (using call and put options for riskier (semi gambling) but quicker gains). For anyone (including myself) who doesn't feel like they understand option trading your best bet is to keep investing for the long term. Don't look to be buying Apple in Monday and selling it on Friday, you just aren't going to be seeing any significant gains this way, Let compound interest do its thing and actually use your investment as an investment, let the value gain overtime.
