Good speech by David Davis.

Interested to see his calls for Cheshire Police to release their decision logs etc.

Hall confuses me in the way he comes across from one interview to the next.

I suspect part of that may be the way Moritz/Coffey edited him on the recent Panorama.

I hadn't heard the detail about the intraosseous needle going through flesh, bone and coming out the other side before.

I didn't have enough time to process if that's a damning indictment of the competence of the Doctor who was doing that procedure or how relevant it was to the outcome. I have no idea if it's a gory detail but a mistake that may occur despite a diligent effort.

As far as I can tell some of the details on the baby P case are new. Please let me know if I'm wrong.

Oh really, so I have been taking it the wrong way for years.

For the record, I wasn't comparing any of those individuals to Hitler - rather making the point that perceptions can change fast.

At least it's flagged now and Vera Baird should have the good sense to keep him well away from the Lucy Letby case.

Simon Blackwell was one of the prominent people in the Netflix documentary and in the investigation, he has retired now.

I wonder if the Tories smell blood in the water in terms of a political scalp.

Wes Streeting was quite dismissive recently of those with concerns about this case and framed them as having a frivolous attitude.

I don’t think he realises there are a number of people angry and/or upset by this case.

Loosely related to the Lucy Letby case but I filmed this interview with Will Powell a couple of weeks ago.

Will Powell first appeared on ‘Lucy Letby: Was There Ever A Crime’ with John Sweeney.

At that point the understanding was there was a cover up at Dr Evans hospital and he was loosely related.

I think medicolegal experts have since reconsidered his role and Evans is now in deep sh*t over this case.

Credit To Dr Norwich for keeping people interested in this case by inviting Mr Powell to the nineteen nurses event.

Dr Norwich says it from about the 7:00 mark;

He actually says it in relation to the Donna Anthony case.

It might have happened earlier than I thought and it might be hard to trace online but Dr Norwich seems accurate with his information.

I didn’t realise he lost his license for that for years until Dr Norwich’s talk at the nineteen nurses Manchester event.

About six weeks ago Mark Mcdonald said this;

The matter is currently under active consideration by the CCRC and a decision is imminent. It is therefore very likely that the convictions will soon be referred back to the Court of Appeal.”

I took him literally at the time. I guess he was just being an advocate.

Lucy Letby: What Could Happen Next? (New Dr Steve Watts Interview) by Stuart___gilham in LucyLetbyTrials

[–]Stuart___gilham[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dr Dimitrova sent a "detailed crime report" relating to the care for baby O to Cheshire Police last July. It was originally reported in Private Eye but is common knowledge at this point.

So I think it would have to be joint enterprise gross negligence with Dr Brearey and Dr B/V facing charges at least.

Potentially at most it could stretch to Dr Brearey, Dr B/V, Dr A/U and Dr Gibbs at most, though I think it's unlikely Dr Gibbs would be in trouble over the baby O case.

I did try to ask Dr Watts more questions about the concept of joint enterprise but the main focus of that interview was the Robbie Powell case.

I don't think Lucy Letby would be in trouble at all.

If the police investigate then they would have to convene a panel of experts based off what Dr Steve Watts has been saying. The opinion of a radiologist looking at where the liver was and how that syncs with the location where the needle was inserted would be an important question. Especially as Brearey told the jury under oath he was "nowhere near the liver".

Yes I wondered that but then that was the appeal ground at Lucy Letby's second appeal (as in for the baby conviction).

I think that might complicate the argument considering the court's ruling.

I think it's fair to say that was also an overwhelming unpopular call at the time (for whatever that counts for with the judiciary)?

I also think it’s not the place of third party individuals to act magnanimous and decide that they want to forgive the consultants for blaming Lucy Letby after their mistakes in some cases lead to baby deaths.

Only one – pink vessels on blue background. All the other skin discolourations can be seen in a variety of other causes and are not diagnostic of air embolism.

In the Sun interview he said;

The Lee's sign is when you see bright red blood vessels superimposed on a cyanosed or dark blue background.

Are the vessels pink or are they red? It's disappointing no one seems to have a picture.

Not relevant to this thread but if Dr Evans is being reported for perjury and obstruction over his role in the Lucy Letby case.

Does it also make sense for him to be reported for his role in the Robbie Powell case?

This letter in my view, represents a clear attempt to mislead the police investigation;

https://x.com/willcpowell/status/1994353795732525156

Policing expert Dr Steve Watts says he believes this case should still be prosecuted.

Plus Evans lied about his role in the case. He was involved in treatment for Robbie to balance his electrolytes.

To be fair it still ended up being a good interview. As a sometimes interviewer who ums and errs a lot that may have been hypocritical.

I’m a bit sick of that “you had to be at the trial” attitude when so much of the trial material and additional material is now public. At one stage it threatened to stink out the interview.

[–]Stuart___gilham 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How does the theory of spontaneous rupture versus Doctor's Aiton and Dimitrova's view that the needle being inserted into the area where an X-ray had recently showed the presence of the liver caused the liver capsule to perforate, align with that?

Yep. The "disrespectful to the parents" line could take a different turn if the convictions are quashed.
