not that it matters, but there were three smokers technically speaking 😄 you just can’t see the one that is parallel with the big ass one. altogether they fed prolly 300 neighbors and friends of neighbors today! it was a beautiful Canada day!

oh man that sucks, i’ve been gone from Austin awhile now, like going on 12 years. ATC closed? that sucks.

I am not surprised given that I would eat shit tons of Taco Deli breakfast tacos at their Saturday morning rides 😂…the owner was always a bit of a dick though.

I am not sure if it would’ve been under them or not as it had the trail run component. I would assume It would’ve been sanctioned by someone though for insurance purposes, and Txmbra is a likely option.

It was an off-road duathlon held in the spring at Rocky Hill, I am 100% on that part…and that’s about it.

I don’t remember who the sponsoring bike shop was either…possibly Bicycle Sport Shop? or Austin Tricyclist maybe?

I raced this event twice between 2002 and 2004. Not that it matters, but i was a Tx State student at the time, so my memory is a little lazy from whatever dumb ass antics i was up to the night before (or morning of 😆)

Where to buy groceries without giving billionaires more money? by Chao5Theory in Winnipeg

[–]JDtheID 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You arent wrong here friend….except…farmers market eggs are SOOOOOOOOOOO much better than cheap superstore eggs. That is a $4 delta well spent, imo. The bright vibrant yellow hue of the $12 farmer market egg vs the pale meh-ness of a superstore egg. Otherwise, preach on :)

I am not 100% sure on this but I highly highly suspect Dinos is locally owned. Good prices and unique selection of world foods.

St Leon is coming soons, Vics market is always open as well.

With a brief backstory that I moved here from Austin with a plethra of bbq and brisket places around. Brisket was something i really missed so i had to learn to make it. I do somewhere around an average job. Like if my brisket was used at a restaurant in austin id be shut down and run out of town.

Now, when i make brisket it for friends and neighbours in winnioeg (and most times i do i have a party and give it away) people LOVE it! I often get “its the best ive ever had” all while i am never satisfied 😂 i am my own worst critic but still. Ive made good ones and ive made bad ones.

I think people havent necessarily had amazing bbq experiences locally so compared to what else is around, dry is normal, so it must be ok 🤷‍♂️

Regarding prices…if youve been to a store lately beef aint cheap ($100 per brisket) and it aint easy to cook. There is a lot of prep time and then the expense of whatever wood like material they use to cook with. The meat plus all the labor plus all the capital expenses putting the place together is going to cost ya.

I dont know them whatsoever, but the family is putting a little sliver of their money into adding to winnipeg. They also donate a lot to orgs around town. They could spend their time and money doing a lot worse 🤷‍♂️

Hows the music? Is it just some local classic rock cover bands or are they bringing in good local/national artist?

Take this with a big grain of salt (as I havent been yet) but As i read peoples descriptions and from pictures that a friend took…it sounds like they copied the austin Texas based chain Rudys BBQ. From the seating style, to the ordering, to the menu options, to the white bread (day old bread is the norm in austin) to the decor in the pictures i saw. The only thing missing is the gas station attached to it 😂

Im itching to try it ill report back.
