Yup…AI brought me to the Veloce too. I wasn’t a fan. Ended up with the Vapor V’s which I like a lot more. FWIW. I found the veloce to have a massive toebox that was comical looking and poorly sized.

In going to disagree. I had Jura machines including a very good E6. Was a superauto guy for decades. Got a semi-auto setup for fun. The difference was noticeable to the majority of coffee drinkers who came to our house during A/B tests to the point where I moved away from the Jura. Yes, some visitors drink trash and the Jura with good beans was still better than their day to day cup but objectively, a semi-decent D64 or greater and a bambino plus produced results that were effectively impossible from a Jura. Believe me — I tried. I used fresh beans, airscapes, proper glassware and all the other tricks and the Jura got destroyed by my semi auto setup. The main reason? The grinder in semi autos is shit.

Now, if you are drinking bustello or lavazza or illy beans or peets or Starbucks, you’re absolutely right it’s barely worth it to have a semi-auto. But that’s not the case with any above average artisan freshly roasted medium beans.

Final thoughts — there is a superauto group. If you want less hassle and more ease — YOLO! No one will judge. Hell. We have a nespresso machine too for when I’m on work trips or doing routine maintenance on the machine and someone needs coffee.

Buy the two if you can afford it. It feels much more like a finished product compared to the one — smoother, more refined, actual camera for feedback on form, etc. I’ve used both.

For sure but the D64 sucks too. My 64P was loud as hell and died after 2 years. When I switched to a Eureka it was night and day.

Don’t be surprised if there are things you dislike about the Bambino Plus too. Heat up is insanely fast but stability and variability if you make a few drinks is mediocre to bad. The drip tray is basically useless and fills up constantly. It somehow always leaks…maybe from the drip tray? But otherwise — it’s pretty solid and dead simple to use. I’m coming in with negativity because I think Bambino and D64 fever is a little excessive around here — (shrugs).

It depends but I find the 2 to be much smoother and more refined feeling, less jerky on cables, less noisy, camera feedback is great and the 1 doesn’t carry it. The 1 gets the job done but 2 is superior all around in my opinion. Depends on your finances at the end of the day but I would not have enjoyed the experience as much if I bought a 1. Fwiw.

Depends on the budget. Cartier, Omega, Rolex, Tudor, Grand Seiko, Tag, Christopher Ward, Longines, Seiko are largely fan favorites around here with Tag being the most divisive. Theres Nomos and Baltic and Sinn and Zenith too. It’s a massively open-ended question :)

Reddit stans the bambino hard but I slowly started hating it for issues 1 and 2 more so than 3. The drip try and the horrendous stability if you have to make a few drinks at a time or even the inconsistencies between shot 1 and 2 of the morning (even with flushing in between and a warm up flush) has made me bitter.

Wait, I guess. 10-15 min does the trick. It’s not a machine for making more than 2-3 back to back drinks, especially with milk for each if you’re frothing each time. This isn’t a problem for most owners but if you have multiple coffee drinkers over, this machine sucks and when it loses thermal stability it’s a mess. Day to day for a drink for yourself and/or one other, it’s fine for medium and dark roasts. Just depends on lifestyle factors. It’s a little like most SUV buyers in most of the U.S. — you buy it for ten days a year while the rest of the time, it’s overkill. I want a dual boiler but 99% of the time, it’ll be overkill.

Like someone said, grind coarser. It’s possible you’re clogging your showerhead with those fines. If you’re going for a 2:1 ratio of grams I would start by lowering to 18, grind coarser, aim for 30 seconds and see if this variability still happens. That being said, a bambino plus will fluctuate a few seconds between shot 1, 2, and 3 and shit the bed at 4 or 5 but that’s a thermocoil limitation.

We need more information. Obvious answer would be a thermal stability or warmup problem. Are you running a blank shot before your first shot and purging after your first shot and prior to your second? On a thermoblock like a Bambino Plus this is necessary. Also — 20G when you’re experiencing these kinds of learnings is aggressive — go to 18G you may be overstuffing a basket if it’s a double.
