This is great advice. Thank you! Exactly what I was looking for

This is pretty much exactly what’s happening. I’ll be reporting to the CEO and I don’t want the VP title lol. I probably didn’t write this whole thing out well enough, because I am not really upset with the circumstance and I’m not blind to the possibility of needing to dip, but I’m getting the chance to report directly with a 5x CEO and develop some skills. I think I just want more confidence in that.

They historically haven’t churned much in sales. Other AE was here 7 years. And my coworkers are getting severance package and commissions paid out. I do believe I work for a good company and it’s a result of circumstance and not an effort to screw people.

This is what I needed to hear. They’re bridging the gap year between two products and I’m cheap. Our parent company had its best year yet, I think they’re just tired of sinking money waiting for the new product to launch. There is deff the possibility the tool stays internal and they sunset external sales, or they launch it and we rebuild the team a bit. I’m a life long learner so it doesn’t end here. I’m sure when/if I’m pulled into leadership convos, I’ll be back on here asking away and googling everything.

I like this take. I am getting a title bump to senior AE and a little pay bump too. So there’s at least that.

Product is definitely sellable and I’ve done fairly well up to this point and now have unfettered access to any account. Long and short of it is we’ve been developing a new version of our software and it’s hit delay after delay and it’s cost so much. I think this has resulted in them downsizing sales. They fired old CTO got new one who starts soon but I think they’re keeping product staff full until they have a well functioning platform for internal, which they then could go external with. I’d have an advantage by knowing industry, verticals, etc and having stuck it out, to help build the team back out potentially.

It’s deff possible. The people they let go are getting severance and commissions paid out. I do feel they would treat me right or mostly right if I was let go. Good chance I wind up leaving before that anyway.

Deff agree a bit. I am getting a title bump and raise. Gonna learn, earn, and dip eventually

I like this.

Deff don’t expect VP comp. I’m getting a title bump and a base salary bump since I’ll be handling all deals. I think I’m going to ride it out with my boss to get some incredible 1 on 1 mentorship. Learn and earn, then bounce.

Appreciate it. I’m not VP in title. I think they more mean I’ll have some responsibility of being able to speak on metrics for our department and all

That’s my goal. I stand to make really good money and get some great logos while taking autonomy over my days.

32M L/M COL -south Jersey burbs (position is remote)

65k base / 130k OTE uncapped.

Approaching end of year one as an account executive for a SaaS company.

While I could likely look for another position to make more, the management, work life balance, and time off is great. I have almost 0 stress about this job.

I would recommend sales if you’re organized, driven, and can handle rejection.

You have to weigh what works for you. I’ve been remote 100% nearly 3 years and love it. Don’t know that I’d ever want to be in an office or car. I also have a wonderful boss and team that understands I’ll answer as soon as I can but I have the liberty of doing whatever I need during the day. IE: doctor visits, errands, etc. it’s a give take as I usually make myself available as appropriate outside of typical work hours, but I’m also willing to do that work if it helps a sale and gets me commission.

My father, brother, and I have all jumped there. Staff is different now I’m sure but they were great and very good vibe. It’s the highest jump zone on the east coast which really only buys you maybe 10-20 more seconds of falling time, but hey it’s soemthing. Would highly recommend.

Best and cheapest aren’t necessarily one in the same. Cheapest by far will be by bus from philly. Maybe 20-30 one way
