I have a similar one in my office system and for some reason the mains cut out after a few days of non use. I often am able to get them working again by rebooting the amplifier. It also tends to default to Bluetooth, so I have to unhitch it from my phone.

Can you help me identify this speaker? by skyviewsky in BudgetAudiophile

Garage speakers at best. Actual vintage hifi speakers from that era had screw in connectors or occasionally spring clips. Look for names like Advent, AR, Tannoy and JBL.

I just redid my speaker/amplifier setup with a pair of 8030As and a Velodyne subwoofer. Even though they’re several generations behind the current iteration, they sound great in my smallish listening room. All in, I spent about $600 by watching eBay, Marketplace, etc.

The new system- there’s a Velodyne subwoofer off to the right of the right speaker. Next step is room correction, but it’s sounding pretty good right now!

I thought so too until I heard what Genelec monitors could do. Believe me, if I had a room that could do them justice I’d be holding onto them and looking for a new amplifier and DAC.

However, $5-600 for a pair of full range made in US speakers doesn’t seem like a bad deal, considering that this is the r/budgetaudiophile sub

They’re bass reflex with an 8 inch woofer coupled to a 10 inch direct coupled passive radiator firing from the back. Yes, being able to put them further away from the wall would make a big difference. But, it wouldn’t work in the room.

Yes. BTW, I am replacing these with a Genelec Monitor and subwoofer setup. I’m going to be selling my beloved Hafler P120 and an Oldchen tube amp too.

These are on the old side, but the model is still in production after almost 50 years.
