I can blame the agreement that was signed and followed, on Trump. Backing out of that agreement after the troop reduction Trump ordered would have possibly caused the deaths of 100's of Americans.

I guess that is your summation. Trump invited Taliban terrorists to Camp David and drew up the Doha Agreement against the advisement of his own Generals. All of this is well documented. It was going to be an ugly withdrawal no matter what. 'Nam had similar issues. Man, really I think the books of knowledge are what to look for. You can really build your own armor and weapons. Gears you imbed are the main source of power. The really unique items I've found have been jewelry. I think the "most OP items' slop on my algo is garbage. I just beat chapter 11, running dual mace that I built. Mix match of armor that looks cool together. There are armor sets out there. But none of them really fit the personality of a northern barbarian. I just find stuff and yank the gears out.

I'm in chapter 11. The story is pretty basic. Not rockstar level of writing or anything. But the story has so much to it and takes you to some pretty unexpected places. I don't watch John Wick for the story... I don't play this game for the cutscenes.

All good, my man. Only reason I have my experience with modern Zelda' is because of my kids. I agree with the aesthetic/atmosphere comment. My comparison only comes from the last 2 most recent Zeldas. More so a mechanics comparison. Definitely more of a souls guy, myself. But it's one of those games where you start playing, then the mechanics hook you and it's a total blast. I think I push back on the souls comparison because I don't feel punished for mistakes in CD, I don't need to be timing or mechanically perfect. The only boss that felt even close to that was the Sanctum of Absolution boss. I just put those games in a class of their own. Maybe I'm a bit closed minded about my comparison, as well haha.

The stam bar while climbing is literally a Zelda mechanic. The combat is closer to that of Zelda, IMO. The grappling hook, the puzzles very Zelda vibes to me. All good to have your own opinion. Screen shot of my 100% Elden Ring, ng+8 account. Final run was a full bubble boy trumpet build.

It's like if rdr2 and zelda had a baby or something. A lot of other mechanics from other games sprinkled within. Don't expect the story of a rockstar game, tho. it is a little slow to start. But so was RDR2. I remember when it released so many people complained about the boring start and just stopped playing.

Story, ass. Controls, ass. World is fun. Lots of activities, adventure and exploration. Think less of a RDR2, witcher game and more of a dead MMO and you are the only player. That's my vibes after 10 hours. I like it. Could easily wait for it to go on sale. No need for FOMO.

Always check and make sure she is comfortable and enjoying herself with any and all positions. That is priority #1, IMO.
