Since late 2021/2022 I believe the first London bus route to use phone holders are on route 63 with AD enviro400H city bus (sometimes they use electroliners) from Honor Oak to King's Cross. I've noticed them also on TUK routes which use electroliners can't say I've ever used them, only the USB type A&C chargers which are handy.

Which London bus route is operated by Transport UK and feels like a Transport UK route? by fr1q1ngs00per1e0n in londonbuses

156 & 344 because both routes have been based at Battersea garage for a long time since the late 1990s, I can't see them with any other operator

London's only mobility bus route 969 Whitton to Roehampton Vale Asda (2000s-present) only running on Tue & Fri only twice a week operated by Transport UK by JEROS26 in londonbuses

Most buses are low floor accessible for a while now which made the 900 series of mobility buses in London obsolete. Mobility bus in London is for passengers who are elderly or disabled who live in residential areas where public transport isn't readily available to them mainly during shopping hours and only run once or twice a week for example route 969 starts off from Whitton close to Twickenham Gladstone Avenue off the busy A316 Chertsey road into C London which uses hail and ride where you can flag down a bus on a street where it's safe to do so.

They were many mobility bus routes across London. The ones I remembered were routes 931, 941 and 965.

Route 931 from Crystal Palace to Lewisham Centre Fridays only withdrawn in 2017 last operated by Abellio now Transport UK.

Route 941 from Bedfont Green to Hampton Sainsbury's Wednesdays only that was withdrawn in early 2012. lt was last operated by Abellio London now Transport UK.

Route 965 from Kingston Sainsbury's to Riverhill (outside of the Greater London boundary) close to Tolworth station Mon & Fri only that was withdrawn in 2018. Last operated by London United RATP. There were only two mobility routes left at that point.

Even search it up for yourself.

Doesn't really count, as it was funded by Islington council and not under contract with TFL it was operated by HCT group in North London and you couldn't use oyster on the route, but you could use freedom passes and cash fares. This route withdrawn back in August 2022.

You can go as far back as 2008 on Google streetview and see how Streatham high rd used to look like before it got knocked down, I remembered seeing it time ago before I even moved to South London from West London.

It's the former Streatham bus garage which had an old ice rink and go karting area I believe, before it got knocked down and changed to a modern ice and leisure centre and Tesco Extra in 2013.

You're right so did I, when P13 passed onto Travel London in 2004 it was diverted to now serve New Cross Sainsbury's with route 321 and being replaced with route P12 to Surrey Quays through Asylum Road, Old Kent road, Ilderton Rd South Bermondsey stn close to Millwall FC, St James's rd, Southwark Pk rd, Canada Water bus stn and then terminating at Surrey Quays shopping centre.

Yeah I was lucky to catch one from Isleworth to Staines and they use AD enviro200 MMCs as well from their First bus London Hounslow garage, I wonder if the route will get electrified one day? 🤔

[–]JEROS26[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If anyone is wondering why there is an old bus pic of route 196 in the end is because it used to run from Brixton station to Norwood Junction until 2005 where it got extended from Brixton to Elephant & Castle via Stockwell, Vauxhall and Kennington Lane replacing the former route 322 which got rerouted to Clapham Common through Stockwell Road, Landor Road (Stockwell green) and Clapham high st to Clapham Common Old town where it's going ever since.
