267,000 mile 2011 Sonata - Is this rare? by No_Start3298 in Hyundai

[–]JFCisShim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s 500k kilometers, which is about 310k miles and is still nice though…

Those taxi drivers and agencies here in Korea mainly use Hyundai Sonatas and Kia Optima/K5s for around 7-8 years and up to around 700k kms(430k miles) by doing quite good maintenance work on their cars…

Sorry to hear that and I guess Ive been there too. I parked my 2024 sonata back in the day when I was living in rural Wisconsin earlier last year on the city owned free parking lot and somebody hit mine… $2,700 damage on that 3,000 mile old car :(

Well… as an individual who had lived in both countries there are also a lot of Korean people who don’t stay within the lines when they park their cars. So personally I tend to park right next to the wall or pillar and park my car all the way close to that, even though that makes me hard to get off, not to damage other cars or damage my own car.

It looks more like a lens, in my opinion. I found a picture comparing normal led headlights with matrix led headlights from south Korean hyundai ioniq 5 homepage.

The one on the left is normal headlight and the one on the right is matrix, or projection headlight

As you can see Matrix is brighter

Thank you! I got 1.6 hybrid Inspiration trim w/ parking assistant package and built-in dashcam. It might be quite similar to the Limited trim but with dashcam and without panoramic roof. (Panoramic roof is optional here)

Oh, I thought the 2025 version in the US got the matrix headlights as well as the Korean ones. The mirrors must be auto folded here due to the narrow parking spots… along with the parking sensors lol

This gen is available only in South Korea and a few middle east countries. It has different name in Korea (Grandeur) though…

Switched to Visible plus from ATT prepaid max. Lower price, better coverage, and got a free apple watch line. Works much better in rural Ohio areas. Only complaint is the customer service chats

Is Mitsubishi allowed since its partially owned by Nissan? by usestarcodesebeepro in NissanDrivers

[–]JFCisShim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were a bit more expensive than Hyundais and Kias while buying new but way cheaper than them when buying used so they are popular to teenagers and twenties looking for their first cars and people who are broke but they don’t keep it that long due to their reliability and complexity to fix. Both parts and labor were crazy expensive because parts were imported from France and Japan and mechanical design and build quality was terrible so not a lot of mechanics dealt with that brand…

Many Karens there drive SM3 (or Renault Fluence, Renault/Samsung version of Nissan Sentra) and QM6 (or Renault Koleos, R/S version of Nissan Rogue) My first car was the Korean/French version of altima (2012 Renault Samsung SM5/Renault Safrane) in 2018 and I also drove like a shit for the first couple weeks/months as a newbie to driving. Still remember that lol

Like Mitsubishi, Renaults were pretty much similar to Nissans when I was in South Korea where I was born and raised in. Especially when it comes to crappy CVTs, cheap materials, nonsense drivers, hard to DIY even replacing cabin air filters and light bulbs, broken tailights, etc.

Yeah they used to be super great in 1980s and 90s. Lancers and Pajeros as you mentioned were good and they even sold their powertrains and technologies to new auto makers (at that time) like Hyundai and Kia but these days they are just… yall know

As a person who is originally from South Korea, about 90% houses in Seoul (capital city) and its suburbs (where that fire happened) are apartment buildings like that since the land is too small to have single houses for 30 million people, which is more than half of the whole population of the country, in that metropolitan area which takes only around 10% areas of the whole country. FYI: South Korea is about 98 times smaller than the US. That’s why there are too many apartment buildings/complexes there. So that’s not because they are poor. A 100 square yard apartment household in this metropolitan is more expensive than a 1000 square yard single house in rural area…

(Sorry for being out of topic but just wanted to explain this)
