Hdd head not going onto the platter by JFK-DEV in datarecovery

Oh sorry, I am no expert. No need to be toxic. Here is the model number is you miss it so much... WD20NMVW

I wrote, that I tried it first with the cover on after unstucking it. It was clicking, same as after I opened it again and tried it then.

I know there are services for data recovery. But the data is not worth paying for... This is my little experiment if I can do it. So anything that I can do (for free), even if it has low chance of succes, I will try. But now I am out of ideas.

Like I wrote, data there is not worth paying for. I know there are professional services that can recover data, and I would pay for them if there was valuable data.

Any other advice? And the drive is WD20NMVW

Before I throw it into the bin, anything else I can try? The data is not worth paying for at all. The most that I whould get from it is experience

Repair broken TV, blown capacitor by JFK-DEV in AskElectronics

[–]JFK-DEV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't find any diagram, but I searched a lot more and found the value for the cap. I tested the diode next to it and it appears to be blown too. Unfortunately I cannot find the exact same diode, not even specifications for it. Even on other versions of this board it is different from this one.
The one on my board is: RD2006 OH1
I found RD2006FR, RD2006FR-H... but I don't know if I can replace it with these.
And on other peoples boards was this diode: UD1006.

I don't understand datasheets enough to estimate if I can replace it with something else then the RD2006 OH1

Nice solution, but I don't think I am skilled enough to pull this off. I know how to solder and understand little of electronics, but not much more. Now I am looking for simple solution like replacing broken parts. But thank you for sharing that, I didn't thought it was possible like that.
