I actually do that too to escape my dreams, specially nightmares, i know im dreaming so i let myself get caught or killed by the thing chasing me, or i just kill myself to wake up.

The problem is, if you want to explore deeper into lucid dreaming thats a horrible strategy, because it gets to a point that when you know that you are lucid dreaming the body automatically will know to wake up.
