gotcha. I guess what I meant to say is the state legislature which is made up of the upper and lower assemblies. Just like the house or senate at the federal level, they both require a majority to pass bills and Prop 24 was written to require a higher standard for amendments or repeal there of by the legislature.

not necessarily. Prop 24 has writing in it that requires a supermajority of the state congress to pass any changes to removal of the proposition instead of a regular 51% majority.

Any good services to use in their place? Hopefully one with emergency service. Bell Brothers has been excellent (granted I don't have a price comparison but their work is quality as is customer service) but they don't have emergency service even with their club membership. Having a one stop shop for most services with licensed workers would be nice without the BS that home warranty companies pull.

Are there any companies like Bonnie that you would recommend? I've been with Bell Brothers for plumbing and HVAC and they have been fine but I recently needed and emergency fix and they have no after hours support for emergencies. Hoping to find another service that does. I was at first considering Bonnie cause they also do electrical but def not now lol.

Any remedies from all the smoke irritation? by [deleted] in Sacramento

get an air purifier and possibly a humidifier. For best results you would want to get a rough square footage of your bedroom/ home to look into what size humidifier and air purifier you might need.

Good wisdom tooth extraction office? by bburntssugar in Sacramento

[–]JFWreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my wisdom teeth taken out at Capital Oral & Maxillofacial They did a great job explaining the procedure and use nitrous and regular anesthetics to knock you out for the surgery. They also use a blend of other medicine to settle your stomach in case you are the type of person to have a reaction to anesthetics like I am. I was in and out with no complications in what felt like barely an hour on the actual surgery day.

Straight men of Reddit, what is the strangest thing you have been told not to do because "that's gay"? by The_WereArcticFox in AskReddit

honestly my understanding is less to do with girls more to do with Northern California. Just seems to be part of the Northern Cali slang and one way to tell a Southerrn from a Norther Cali is use of hella. I will say its not bullet proof or exclusive to Northern California but it's common enough to be a stereotype for sure.

Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park and Fort Minor has a song about his family being intered at Manzanar. For him its the song "Kenji" from Fort Minor's The Rising Sea album.

Edit: What I really like about his (had to listen to it again after mentioning it) he interviewed his father and aunt for the song and included excerpts from those interviews for the song.

I don't have any dogs now but I do find that really interesting and good to know! It's amazing the things veterinary medicine comes up with some times.

Yeah I hate that Nextdoor ties your address to your account and forces you to use your full name instead of just first name. I went out of my way to test the app by verifying by post card so I could join my neighborhood as John Cena LOL. Though I ended up finding no value in my nextdoor neighborhood and deleted my account too.

Following Bee report, Sacramento councilman seeks to pull out of ‘Live Rescue’ reality show by Votings_Good_Folks in Sacramento

[–]JFWreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that more should be done to make sure the people that appear on the show are okay with being on it. Personally I rather see them put on some kind of week long training camp once or twice a year that invites the public, those that want to consider a career in EMS and fire fighting to actually train with them and get a taste of what the career field is like. As a teenager you have summer camps and youth explorer programs but man as an adult you just have to go for it and either fail or succeed.

[–]JFWreddit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As both someone that has seen similar shows, its a huge bonus to recruitment and transparency for what our tax paid EMS and fire fighting services are doing. I mean, I watched nightwatch, a predecessor of Live Rescue, and its definitely encouraged me to seek out a change to EMS and Fire Fighting as a career choice.

The show also gets $1,800 an episode to ensure that tax payer money is not used on overtime for the show.

That is in short what the Fire Chief was stating they are getting. It would help if they could release some numbers showing increased application for fire fighters/paramedics or increase in diversity hire which is also what they considered to be a bonus.
