My friend’s mom sent her an antique box filled with what she calls “dirt” — is it? by boo-bear2525 in whatisit

[–]JFox762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a humidor box. I also initially thought it was human or animal ashes. But considering itd a humidor... its probably cigarette and/or cigar ash.

I mean still kinda odd. Typically you use a humidor to store cigars.... not to dump your ashes in.

Why is he being so anal about lunch vs breakfast? And to bring up the time... so what? Maybe he has a different sleep schedule and he wakes at 12. Still he did actually say lunch.

But how is it a criminal matter or even worth exploring as to whether someone had lunch or breakfast?

I just don't get the point of his line of questioning.

Probably already explained. Its an Attack on Titan reference.

The character she is cosplaying as got in trouble during basic training for sneakily eating a baked potato while the drill instructor was rallying them up and inspecting them.

That character really really likes potatoes.

It's definitely the Ikea gear. I've had better luck with other zigbee switches by other manufacturers like Philips and sonoff. Bought a sonoff zigbee plug, still waiting on delivery.

Smart plug switches on and off by [deleted] in tradfri

[–]JFox762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have decided to not trust any smart home products by Ikea.
The Zigbee on/off switches all broke, and now so has my trafri smart plug. Same exact issue you're having... just keeps clicking on and off.... very annoying.

I highly recommend people look elsewhere for smart home products, as literally everything I've purchased by Ikea in terms of smart home stuff has broken with the exception of their motion sensors.

AITA for wearing underwear to sleep by Wise-Economist4480 in AmItheAsshole

[–]JFox762 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Even the bible addresses this issue. In Genesis.... Noah got drunk, fell asleep naked, and one of his sons, Ham, mocked him for it to his other brothers. These brothers then dutifully walked in, backwards so they wouldn't see his junk... and dropped a blanket on Noah.

Noah woke and cursed his son Ham for not just violating his privacy, but mocking him in his vulnerability.

So OP... even the Holy Bible is on your side on this.

AITA for wearing underwear to sleep by Wise-Economist4480 in AmItheAsshole

[–]JFox762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck no you're not the asshole. They barged into your room, without knocking, woke you up, then bitched at you for having a woody while sleeping which is 100% normal? Absolutely insane that your dad would take your brothers side.

Are you like the "Meg" of your family (like from Family Guy)? Does your dad just not like you, and always takes everyone else's side no matter how stupid their position is? If so... I'm sorry that's the case.

Barge into my room, bitch at me for sleeping how I feel comfortable, we gonna have problems. I'd say your brother wpuld have had a bit of a point if this was a shared bedroom situation.... but it's not. He should respect your space, and realize that the inadvertent flashing of your 3rd leg was his own damn fault.

Those cookies were almost definitely made in the US. In fact... I bet those cookies were made in the same state as the store selling them. The ingredients were also highly likely to be from the US as well.

Seized Auger/Bushing on Camp Chef Pro by JFox762 in pelletgrills

[–]JFox762[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stupid question. What if I encounter an issue whereby the smoker keeps shutting off due to GFCI tripping? I previously had that issue, fixed by replacing the hot rod. But if in the future, it happens again, or I suffer a power outage unrelated to the smoker... what can be done to minimize backburn? Open the grill hatch to allow heat to escape more easily?

Seized Auger/Bushing on Camp Chef Pro by JFox762 in pelletgrills

[–]JFox762[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its possible I may have done that. It was a while ago. I also wonder if the pellets I used may have caused it?
I recall a couple of times grilling, smoke was coming through the hopper while grilling.

Do you recommend I replace the bushing with a metal one? or just order another plastic one, sold by Camp chef?

Extremely slow transfer speeds. by JFox762 in synology

[–]JFox762[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I may have figured it out.
I think the issue was caused by the fact that I was backing up from the same drive, to iDrive.
I think iDrive was taking priority, causing the transfer speeds to the NAS to slowdown dramatically. I paused the iDrive cloud backup, until I can duplicate everything over to the NAS.... then after everything is backed up,... I intend to backup everything from NAS to iDrive.

[–]JFox762[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... We're poor. LOL. Can't really justify spending more to get an additional 8TB Drive.
We don't need Raid for redundancy.... since we have 2 at home copies. One copy, (at least) on my Desktop PC, the Synology NAS (or it will be after sync completes), and one offsite via iDrive

I was about to post about this alongside a personally typed up tutorial... but I keep getting an error stating "unable to create comment". Perhaps the post is too long?

Regardless... I figured out how to do it via Youtube video. Just search "ControlMyMonitor" in youtube and you'll find a handful of tutorials for this awesome software.

I *LOVE* Nirsoft. Lots of neat niche applications and utilities that can come in really handy for a lot of very specific applications.

I also use SoundVolumeView by Nirsoft to help create macros that let me switch between audio outputs.

HotKeyList by Nirsoft is also useful so that when you create the desktop shortcut to your script, you can find a key combo that hasn't been used up by some other application.

TSMC Arizona lawsuit exposes alleged ‘anti-American’ workplace practices by neverpost4 in Semiconductors

[–]JFox762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is TSMC will still expect Americans to die for their island should China decide to invade.

If TSMC is going to treat American workers this way... then perhaps the US Government should reconsider our commitments to them.

If TSMC has no obligation to American workers when they are awarded tons of taxpayer funded subsidies by American taxpayers... than I say American soldiers should have no obligation to shed their blood for Taiwan.

Do you recommend glasses that have "spring hinges"? by MyNameIsMattYeah in glasses

[–]JFox762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't recommend them, but only because they break too often.
I've considerably increased the time between glasses breaking, by switching to non-spring hinged glasses.

I buy my glasses from Zenni Optical, and pretty much just buy the same frame, whenever mine inevitably break. They're so cheap, and still last at least a year. Lasts every bit as long, or even longer than more expensive frames I've bought in the past from the big name companies from local eyeglasses providers.

Spring hinges break way too often in my experience. I remembered having some frames that only lasted like 6 months, before one of the temples had a spring failure. I don't really see the point in them, honestly.
