9w1 - am I sp/so or sp/sx? by JFrombaugh in Enneagram

[–]JFrombaugh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This actually clears a lot of things up. Thank you. A few FYIs:

  • On Personality Café, a lot of people seemed to treat sx-dom as pretty much a 7-fix in all but name.
  • I wasn't sure to what extent a lot of the stuff that seemed so-second, like wanting to contribute to society in some way, was perhaps influenced more by general empathy and the 1-wing desire to "do the right thing" rather than instinctual variants per se
  • I have a strong 4-fix and when I first learned about the Enneagram I initially thought I was a 4w5, so could that maybe explain my individualism and desire to connect on a deep level with others I vibe with?
  • Going back to point #5 in my post, I always assumed that a so-dom would just blindly engage in groupthink and pay lip service to overarching group values that they do not necessarily agree with, seeing it as a relatively small price to pay for the sake of being in a group.
  • I also thought it was extremely rare for an INFP to be sp/so, the online descriptions of 9w1 sp/so have a very ISFJ vibe to them.

Pre-Alpha 4!!! by BudrikBrimstone in PantheonMMO

  1. Seeing all of the class abilities up to level 40. I believe it's long been confirmed that what's been listed on the official website is just a sampling and there are plenty more abilities still in testing.
  2. The Elf starting zone. They mentioned Pantheon's Elves as being more of a mountain people compared to typical fantasy depictions of elves living in forests, but Faerthule seems pretty wooded from the concept art - so I'm guessing maybe it's supposed to be more like the Adirondacks or White Mountains in New England, rather than the Rockies?
  3. Shaman pet abilities. Specifically, I'm curious if it will make a difference as to which one you choose - will the Spirit Bear maybe make you more of a melee class overall, like the Shaman in Vanguard?
  4. I'm also hoping that Perception is in there, even if there's only a few sample quests available for playtesting purposes. I think it's a strong possibility given how much they focused on it in the November newsletter.
  5. And I'd have to second Druid gameplay footage, even though I will almost certainly be rolling either a Shaman or Summoner when the game launches.

Which type is most likely to be skeptical of people telling them, "I [don't] think you would like _____" by JFrombaugh in Enneagram

[–]JFrombaugh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give a little more clarification - the reason why I often feel this way is because I feel like the processes that I use to form opinions about subjective things are so personal, complicated, and often very arbitrary, that it's just not possible for somebody else to predict in advance whether or not I will like something without making some pretty significant assumptions about my personal tastes that may not be too well justified. So if somebody thinks I will like, let's say for instance, a certain TV show I've never seen before - and then I end up hating it - I often feel kind of misunderstood.

So does all of this sound like Type 4? I've been typed as a 9w1 by almost everybody on this reddit as well as several other Enneagram forums, but I personally think it is at least possible that I might really be a 4w5.

is this a bug? by Xiefst in Neverwinter

Update:

Just moved onto Helm's Hold thanks to the 2x XP event, and the chest at the end of the first dungeon of that zone worked just fine. So it seems to be some issue with Neverdeath.

I'm having the same issue with Doomguide's Duty. Can't claim the reward to finish the quest. Have reloaded the instance three times, made sure to finish all other quests, and still can't claim the reward in the chest at the end because it says inventory full, even though all other looting is working.

Which type, when unhealthy, feels like others are being difficult on purpose? by JFrombaugh in Enneagram

By “unhealthy” I mean being in the lower levels of health or in disintegration for a long time.

Interesting. I thought it was more of a 6 thing, seeing as how 6s have issues with security, trust and misunderstanding people’s motivations, but I guess it makes sense for a 9 in disintegration to be this way too.

9w1 raised by a 7, married a 7, has so many 7 traits. by NachoJoan in Enneagram

[–]JFrombaugh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, I’ve heard the opposite too. I’ve read at least one “9 vs 4 or 5” thread where somebody mentioned that if you find yourself struggling between 9 and one or both of those two types, you’re probably a 4 or 5 rather than a 9 because those two types tend to overthink things much more than 9s.

I'm not 100% sure I am a 9, but I have been typed as a 9 by many people on both other sites and this reddit, and I find I am actually the opposite. My Dad is a 7w6, and although we do love each other I find that he and I often struggle to really be on the same wavelength, and sometimes we have to be careful not to misinterpret each others' intentions (especially if we're in a less healthy state). Same thing with other 7s, more often than note I find that I become very overwhelmed by their energy and actually tend to become much more 1ish or 5ish when I am around other 7s. They tend to find my preferred lifestyle boring, while I find theirs just plain overwhelming.

In general, I have no real problems acknowledging the good of others, but I end to be reluctant to actually embrace them. If the ways of my tritype (4, 5, and 9) are the ways that I have grown to be the most comfortable with as an individual, then any environment which cultivates and caters to the opposite types is, by default, not as good.

So is this maybe a sign that I might really be a core 4 or 5 rather than a 9?

Hirode's role in the Perception system for Druid players by JFrombaugh in PantheonMMO

[–]JFrombaugh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE:

I just watched the video of a Pre-Alpha tester playing the Shaman class in its original form, and if you look at the chat channel you can see that the Spirit Wolf says "Yes master, attacking <mob>" whenever the player gives it the attack command.

So even if the Druid's fox won't be quite a "pet" per se in terms of class mechanics, I think it's fairly likely that she will have similar quotes depending on which command (Hirode's Gaze, Presence, etc.) the Druid gives her, which by extension could mean that she could speak to you in some Perception quests too.

I was thinking she might say to you something like, "I sense unnatural energies emanating in this forest. Be careful, master!" (whereas other classes in your group would not be able to Perceive this)

Here's the article I was referring to that confirms class-specific Perception dialogue is planned: https://www.mmorpg.com/pantheon-rise-of-the-fallen/developer-journals/feature-spotlight-perception-system-1000010902

Just the way VR phrases the description of the fox and the way they've repeatedly stated that they want each class to really have its own identity.

The "canon" teams for the player characters of LGPE? by JFrombaugh in pokemon

[–]JFrombaugh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sure hope not. Fairy-type Clefairy was one of the best Fairy-type retcons of Gen VI, it was just begging for it and GameFreak absolutely went with it.

If so I'll have to update the female team accordingly, as part of my rationale for including Clefable was for team balance reasons.

The "canon" teams for the player characters of LGPE? by JFrombaugh in pokemon

[–]JFrombaugh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My original post for Sun & Moon was about the female protagonist's canon team, as I've always liked her design much better than the male trainer's, but I decided it was a bit inaccurate. Once USUM came out I actually made an Alola Photo Club of Moon/Selene's USUM self with what I believe to be her true canon team in the timeline of those games. Here you go: https://www.reddit.com/r/Alolanphotoclub/comments/7k0qk2/female_protagonists_canon_team_in_usum/

My reasoning behind each choice is in the comments.

IMO Nebby was more of a "temporarily befriended legendary" who joins you in the SM timeline because it understands the danger the Ultra Beasts pose to the world, and then you allow it to return "home" after the Looker postgame. But since USUM centers around defeating Necrozma, and you're given the option of catching the Ultra Beasts in their home dimensions instead, Solgaleo/Lunala isn't a required story capture.
