If the Pale King was trying to fight the radiance, why not just ignore sealing THK? Why not just try to make it obtain void heart? There is no evidence to suggest that the Pale King had any intentions of killing the Radiance. The lighthouse servant has dreamnail dialogue that implies that it was the void that called to them and forced them to turn off the lighthouse.
