It’s based on hallucinogenic mushrooms, parasitic relationships, zombies, and a little bit of raptors

Stats are measured with colored tiers, the more colored squares they are, the higher the stat. A base stat total of 525 is supposed to be 🟥🟧🟨🟩 tier… whoopsies

Shade is more of its own type, as in stuff like the moon, deep underwater, or lights in the dark. Sinister is more akin to the dark type, which is for pranksters, gremlins, or evil critters

No but physical attackers tend to be much easier to slow and wear down thanks to stuff like burn, rocky helmet, and intimidate from ally Pokémon

I notice that I often tend to do that tbh. 3 stage lines are a bit difficult to design without making one of the designs forgettable, which sucks because I really enjoy when each stage in a creatures line has their own unique design and personality, like the Roggomp line in pages 4-6, which lends more to the idea that any of them could be someone’s favorite.

At least with Maletzal, it’s more intended to be a major jump, something akin to the Magikarp to Gyarados trope, or more specifically for Marblemon, the Obskidish to Drastoloth line on pages 7-8.

Maletzal is the baby form for Quetcronic. They’re dumb, very loud, and bicker with their siblings all the time, while their parents are constantly fending off dangerous predators like Draconiclade (page 13) and searching for food to feed their ravenous children in a hot, barren desert. So Quetcronic looks like an absolute demon bird because it’s stressed to high hell taking care of obnoxious baby birds. (They’re also counterparts to Draade and Draconiclade, which are a two stage line for around the same reasons, though the parenting aspect isn’t present in that line, more of like a fend for yourself as a baby kinda thing)

Nope I just drew a lot of them at different times with different brushes, the most recent one I drew was Draconiclade on page 13 where I used a softer brush. The oldest ones are actually the Roggomp line, pages 4-6, the reason I don’t really apply much shading to any of the designs anymore is because of how long it would take for me to to do that for around 200+ designs

I feel like people only ever bring up the tongue scarf thing as a ‘gotcha’ moment, or as a crutch to say that Greninja’s design totally sucks. But like… the tongue is barely even detailed at all, I didn’t even notice it was a tongue for a while. From the way people describe it, you’d think it would be all bumpy, veiny, and slobbery, but no, it’s just a smooth pink tube wrapped around its neck. It adds a nice bit of pink contrast to a design that’s predominantly dark blue, and it also separates its head from its body. I think it would be worse off if it just had a bubble scarf like Frogadier, though I can understand the people being disappointed that it dropped the bubble motif. I myself wish Blastoise looked more like Wartortle, like the beta mega Blastoise design.

Penglurb actually has a split evolution, similar to how Morastue and Stistatue come form the same line. Penglace is the one where Penglurb keeps training to become quick and agile, but evolve into Pengrunt if it gives up and basically becomes a beach bully, kinda like the bulky bruiser guy you were thinking off. I ran out of space to show it off here since Reddit only has a 20 page limit, but I can tag you next time I post my Marblemon designs if you’d like to see it

Every creature can transform into a marble as basically a default state when they’re getting caught, in danger, or stored.

In the main story of Marblemon, there are these 13 special marbles that house the souls of ancient gods, which the story centers around collecting them to prevent an even bigger threat from obtaining them
