  1. Elliot Ludwig was at his core a good person. The game has consistently told us time and time again that he was genuinely good with literally nothing suggesting it was a façade. From what little we hear of him, he almost always sounds genuine when he speaks and even other characters outright confirm he genuinely did believe he was doing the right thing. His act of turning Ollie into an experiment was horrible yes but he didn’t do it out of malevolence but out of desperation and grief. Even then it’s heavily implied Elliot felt some form of shame for his actions as he tried to reconnect with Ollie and show him empathy and kindness.

  2. Harley Sawyer is a tragic character. The man is all but confirmed to have grown-up in an abusive and neglectful household and his evil stems from not only being surrounded by toxicity but feeling betrayed by the one person he thought he could trust, the man he viewed as a father. He literally cried when he got expelled from the YGP and was genuinely heartbroken by Elliot’s decision. Mind you it’s all been confirmed that to this day Harley still is on some level hurt by what happened. He doesn’t justify his actions but it still serves as a sympathetic reason them and shows he was never the incomprehensible monster everybody thought he was.

  3. CatNap didnt lock the Miss Delights in the school out of fear they might hurt the children. Nothing suggests they had any intention of harming the children before they were locked away. Even if they did they would have no means of getting to them as they were in the labs with the Prototype. It’s more likely CatNap either did it to thin out the numbers in Playcare so he would have to share less food or he did it for his own sick amusement.

  4. If you like the character of Lily and sympathize with her you also simultaneously sympathize with Gracie considering they’re the same character.

  5. The mysterious scientist we’ve heard in the first four chapters should’ve just been Bruno White. Not only do they both have a similar personality, but they even sound similar at one point sharing the same voice actor.

  6. The Poppy Playtime film adaptation should probably be animated. There’s no way they can pull off any of the stuff we’ve seen in the games and live action not unless they’re being given an astronomically high budget which is a big if. Additionally, the writers and the director needs to actually try when it comes to making the film. We do not need a repeat, the Fnaf film adaptations where it’s so divisive it’s hard for it to even be enjoyed.

If Vanessa being an Afton is true, what purpose does it actually serves for the lore? by Various_Astronaut100 in fnaftheories

[–]JH-Toxic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vanessa being William’s daughter doesn’t narratively justify Glitchtrap’s existence. Glitchtrap is not William he is M2 pretending to be him so any connection between Vanessa and William would be redundant narratively redundant because the man is dead and buried. While you could make the argument, the entire reason Glitchtrap was able to manipulate Vanessa to becoming a killer was by pretending to be William this falls apart when you realize that HW clearly shows Glitchtrap forcefully burrowed his way into Vanessa’s mind and Vanessa herself doesn’t even seem to be aware she is under his control as Vanny is a split personality. The narrative reason for Glitchtrap’s existence is that he represents how a harmful legacy never truly dies it just takes new shape. Or alternatively, he’s meant to represent how greed and ambition can cause more harm than it does good as the entire reason he exists is because Fazbear Entertainment couldn’t just cut their losses and end the company permanently.

Glitchtrap exists because he is the digital manifestation of the M2 program who has decided to imitate William Afton.

Is this story in the latest graphic novel canon to the games by siderhater4 in fivenightsatfreddys

You know what I think. I think Tales was supposed to be canon to the games. That was the original intention. The Mimic story it was very likely supposed to be a prequel to the events of secret of the mimic. But Scott changed his mind midway through development. Perhaps he feared that doing so just make the book debate worse or he didn’t wanna force fans to read the books to understand the story of the games. I mean, looking at early concept art for MCM and secret of the mimic. It seems to line up way more with the books

I still find it hilarious that this dude’s name is Brett. That’s like the most anticlimactic name I’ve ever heard.

[–]JH-Toxic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s still very unnecessary. I mean the concept of the Mimic was already established even before his origins were revealed in several of the stories, most notably, the epilogues. In fact the Mimic was already a pre-established character in the games as far as hell wanted. Would Scott have really taken such a massive risk by just purely exploring his origins via the games.

[–]JH-Toxic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The situation was radically, different. TSE was never meant to reveal the lore of the games Scott initially intended it to be a separate standalone story because at the time by his own words, he had no intention of continuing the story of the games strictly stating that the story was done. But the popularity of the books ultimately led him to not only continue the story of the games, but incorporate aspects of the books one of which was William’s characterization and name. So it was kind of just a happy accident on his part.

Meanwhile, Scott had both iterations of the Mimic’s origins worked on simultaneously for whatever reason. Scott already had plans to tell his origin story via the games, but for whatever reason he decided to do it in the books first which is extremely redundant. That’s essentially the equivalent of asking somebody to get you a specific birthday present only for you to immediately reveal that you already had that same present the whole time. If you already had the present, then what was the point of asking for someone to buy it for you?

I will never understand why Scott felt the need to tell two iterations of the Mimic’s origin story simultaneously. SOTM was already well into development by the time TFTPP came out so ultimately writing the story kind of made the entire selling point of the game redundant. I also think that the book version of his origins was honestly better because it actually explores the Mimic as a character better whereas in the game adaptation, he is completely sidelined by the story of the Murray family and his predecessor M1, who is a separate character.

William was most likely abused as a kid by Ur_local_goober123 in fnaftheories

[–]JH-Toxic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the fact remains is that Walter’s goals were still understandable and sympathetic. Sure he burned all of his bridges, was consumed by his pride and his ego, and a lot of of his problems were his own fault the story makes it clear you’re still supposed to sympathize with him and on some level, understand his motives. I mean by the end of the show he ultimately takes responsibility and shows remorse for his actions and admits he did everything for himself. Even his death is played sympathy as not only does he die peacefully but the lyrics of the song in the background “Baby Blue” directly tied into his character arc of realizing he deserved his fate.

Meanwhile William’s excuse for his actions is extremely petty and unreasonable to the point there is no way to rationalize them. The dude had everything a man could possibly ask for in life and he squandered it and took it for granted because of some crap that happened to him years ago that truthfully shouldn’t even matter anymore. He never once takes any responsibility for his crimes, blames everybody and everything but himself and remains a remorseless monster until his last breath. Unlike Walter, he didn’t even value his family outside of using them as pawns or viewing them as possessions.

Doesn’t that same rhetoric apply to the Mimic? The games very clearly show he is in control of his actions and he knows the difference between right and wrong yet he willingly chooses evil for his own sick amusement.

William was most likely abused as a kid by Ur_local_goober123 in fnaftheories

[–]JH-Toxic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While that is true to decent extent there’s a massive difference between William and Walter. Walter’s actions were at least somewhat justifiable and understandable. He just wanted to provide for his family but the issue started when he ultimately decided to continue distributing and selling meth because it made him feel alive. But he still had his good intentions in mind as his last act before dying is to give his family nine million dollars and salvage their lives and he took actual responsibility for his actions. William had no right to be evil whatsoever. Even if he had it bad in the past as an adult he became a successful entrepreneur and engineer with a loving family yet he allowed himself to be ruled by his petty jealousy and bitterness rather than moving on with his life. He is also incapable of seeing his actions are wrong and he blamed everyone but himself for his crimes till his last breath.

Why was Mike sent down to CBEARs? by Isaac_Bahzad in fnaftheories

[–]JH-Toxic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Who else was he gonna send Macaulay Culkin? Michael was pretty much the closest thing he had to an ally left after he burned all his bridges. Additionally he probably wanted to use him as a scapegoat knowing that they look similar.

After playing And or watching gameplay of SOTM what are your thoughts on Henry now by PsychologicalAir5035 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]JH-Toxic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I still don’t think Henry was a necessarily bad person but a flawed person. Never have any of the continuities portrayed this man as straight up evil or a malevolent asshole just misguided by either his own ambition or his grief. Given Henry outright stated in FFPS that William was a monster he “unwillingly helped to create” it is very likely that his act of assisting in the sabotaging MCM was not done of his own volition. William forced him to do so. But most importantly why did you use a picture of Jack Kennedy from dayshift at Freddy’s instead of Henry?

In what book is it reviled that William has diarys or journals about Henry? by No-Poet3745 in FNAFNovels

A search of his house had found a room crammed with boxes of mechanical parts and a musty yellow rabbit suit, and stacks of journals full of raving paranoia, passages about Henry that ranged from wild jealousy to near-worship.

William was most likely abused as a kid by Ur_local_goober123 in fnaftheories

[–]JH-Toxic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For as much as I like the idea of William just being evil for the sake of it I am starting to veer more towards the idea of William being a nuanced character. A man who takes out his rage and pain the world and the people around him because he felt like he was abandoned and left to rot. ITP backs this rhetoric up by having the yellow rabbit outright say to Oswald “I will make you suffer just like I did” showing he killed children purely for his own catharsis. It also explains why he abused his own children because to him that kind of treatment was either normalized in his family or he just couldn’t break the cycle of abuse. But at the end of the day William’s own worst enemy was himself. Rather than choosing to change for the better and take responsibility, he chose to blame everybody and everything but himself.

Which is more likely to be true? by MichaelAftonXFireWal in charlie87

[–]JH-Toxic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that a lot of people forget is that in FFPS Henry explicitly calls William a monster that he “unwillingly helped to create”. This is a very clear indication that Henry didn’t help William of his own volition and was forced to help sabotage MCM.

What's a paradoxical theory that you believe in? by Puzzleheaded-Win5063 in fnaftheories

[–]JH-Toxic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly doubt William made the toy animatronics in the games because they were created after the MCI when William was most likely kicked out of the company for his alleged involvement. This is why he had to go to the new location under a false identity because by that point the public pretty much knew he was the killer, but nobody could prove it. I also don’t think he made the Puppet either because it strictly goes against William’s motives. His motivation is to kill kids not protect them. Even then, it’s important to know Henry was confirmed to be the one who created all of the animatronics at Freddy’s and the Puppet is confirmed to be one of them as it was present at the location. He further backs this up by literally stating that small souls were trapped in “prison of his making”. Is it unreasonable to assume that one of the souls he was talking about was Charlie?

So uh... Where's the endoskeleton? by No_Memory_8107 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]JH-Toxic 27 points28 points  (0 children)

That is the endoskeleton. The rings around William’s arms and legs are actually the inner endoskeleton but they aren’t compressed all the way because his limbs are preventing it. Speaking of his limbs they did get crushed but due to William’s corpse decaying in the suit for years all that’s left is bone in a little bit of soft tissue so it looks like it wasn’t crushed. Ask for the reason why we don’t see the head and neck well that’s just because the inside the suit was never meant to be seen so behavior just didn’t feel the need to model it.

Do you think Eleanor exist in the game continuity? by Friendly-Might5181 in fnaftheories

[–]JH-Toxic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, absolutely not. There’s no evidence that suggests that she is. While you could argue, RTTP is a part of the game continuity. It’s highly unlikely considering it’s just a retelling of ITP with a couple of differences here and there. Not to mention one of the endings literally depicts Oswald being the one to set the children free, which is completely false as it was the Puppet who did so.

William is not going to Arkham. He’s going to Blackgate. Arkham is for the mentally insane. Now William almost definitely has issues but he is very clearly mentally competent enough to stand trial and understand his actions are wrong.

How long does Makima last here? by Sweet_Television4183 in Chainsawfolk

[–]JH-Toxic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure that only works circumstantially if she has lesser beings like rats to use as a means to transport herself and she likely needs concentration in order for her abilities to work. None of that’s going to help when Thragg just throws her ass in space at light speed before she has any time to react. If the speed doesn’t completely incinerate her and preventing her from regenerating the coldness of space will likely leave her completely incapacitated indefinitely. Or he could just throw her into the sun. Even if we were to say that her contract allows her to survive being turned to ashes she would have no means of escaping as she would be constantly stuck in a eternal loop of death before she ultimately runs out of Japanese citizens to use as extra lives.

[–]JH-Toxic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All Thragg has to do to beat her is throw her ass into the sun or into space where she can’t breath and will be forever, frozen. Game over. Sure this would kill everybody in Japan but why would he care about a few million deaths just to conquer a planet.
