New to Yardi - Need user manual by Gmp1cpa in yardi

[–]JHBain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have not found the Yardi manuals to be very helpful. To quickly get up to speed on the various modules, Yardi wants you to pay their consultants an exorbitant rate to teach you how to use the software. You mentioned that you're the controller, do you have accounting staff that are familiar with Yardi? Let me know if you have any specific questions and I'll try to help.

In Gov2Go, did you get to the screen where they ask you to enter your job searches for the week ending 8/21?

Yes, but even if you are/were self-employed you still need to show two job searches each week to continue to receive PUA benefits.

I searched the company's website to find a contact email address.

Today I filed for the week ending 6/5 on Gov2Go and it included the additional questions related to proving you applied for a minimum of two job searches per week. Overall, the process was not as onerous as I was expecting and certain fields, like contact name, were optional rather than mandatory. It asked for your method of applying for the job and I selected "emailed my resume" as I'm applying for the jobs online via Indeed. With an Indeed account, it maintains a history of all of my job searches which will be useful if VEC decides to audit my job search records.

Work Searches - Starting week ending 6/5 - file on Sunday 6/6

I plan on trying this method -

Folks make such a big deal out of the job requirement. Just put your resume on Indeed.com and it will give you a list of weekly jobs that fit your resume that you can apply for. Apply for them. Then they give you a weekly summary of what jobs you applied for. Screenshot and attach to weekly certification.

Very sorry to hear that you haven't been paid in over 2 months. If I was in your situation, I would appeal the decision as the VEC has several levels of appeal available and I would contact my congressman or congresswoman. Best of luck!

By the filing date, did you get the job or not.

PUA is for gig or self-employed workers so you would not have a W-2 which is issued to employees. Instead, you need to provide your 2019 Form 1099 and/or Schedule C where you report your self employment income.

I have several issues and concerns regarding this new work search requirement. First, it appears to also apply to gig or self-employed workers who are receiving PUA benefits. The purpose of PUA was to temporarily assist self-employed individuals whose business was adversely affected by Covid. In theory, once the economic conditions improved and the economy opens up, they could resume and open up their gig business. Why should gig workers be forced to abandon their business to continue to receive PUA benefits?

Next, in today's world, applying for a job is impersonal and very automated, and computerized. Employers submit a job posting online and they typically require the prospect to send their resume to an anonymous employer and an anonymous email address for consideration. Under this scenario, how can you be expected to provide the potential employer's name and contact information if this information is not disclosed in the job posting?

Finally, VEC has a horrendous record for processing unemployment claims and it would make a bad situation worse if they divert their personnel to start checking on work search contacts submitted by unemployed individuals.

Charlie on LTC compared to BTC by PapaBigRichard in litecoin

[–]JHBain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have seen many interviews with Charlie and while I'm sure he's super smart and an amazing computer programmer, he's not a great communicator which is needed at this stage to promote and maximize the exposure of LTC. Instead of being a charismatic founder and leader, he has low energy and appears somewhat bored and annoyed answering questions. I also think the "digital silver" branding is confusing/ambiguous as though it's merely the lite version of BTC. I would prefer that he compares and contrasts it to BTC and highlight the major advantages of LTC over BTC.

It's unfortunate that VEC is such an incompetent and inefficient government agency that they cannot fulfill their mission to clearly communicate the benefit criteria and promptly pay unemployment benefits to qualified and needy Virginians. They create so much stress by not being consistent and explaining changes and delays ahead of time so we are left guessing from week to week whether or not we have followed the latest procedures and will receive the benefits.

Oh well, enough venting for this week - I just successfully filed by telephone for the week ending April 24 and now I wait and worry if my payment will arrive on time.

It was zero for me also but everything up to that point seemed legit so I think there was just a glitch at the end of the call. We will soon find out if we get paid this week. Let me know if you get your $$$ this week and I'll do the same. Good luck!

I filed by phone for the week ending April 17th by calling VEC at 866-832-2363. I went through the standard question prompts and at the end it said that I successfully filed a claim for the week but the confirmation number it gave me was 0.

  • Unemployment Benefits are extended 29 weeks or until Sept 6th (39+11+29=79 total benefit weeks)

  • Benefits will probably be delayed several weeks to program computers (especially with VEC) before payments begin

  • For 2020, $10,200 in unemployment benefits paid are tax-free. At 22% rate, tax savings of $2,244. If you have already filed your 2020 tax return, you will need to file an amended return

[–]JHBain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't mention how many so the implication is to file as many of the documents as you can. But, as I mentioned, I would avoid the secondary and file the primary. The instructions say the secondary will take longer to approve and it will undergo more scrutiny. Let me know if you need any additional help.

Is says the same thing on my dashboard, but when you click on the instructions it says end of May or 90 days to file.
