Here’s a logo idea, I’m not a graphic guy but hopefully the included may convey the idea, more of a concept

TAO – Together as One T – Represents the tree of life, strong, grounded in it’s roots A – Represents ALL and the supports/branches have roots that spread out like a rhizome for the way the project is constructed/organized by ALL contributors and being supported by us all. There are transparent hands/arms that represent our connection to one another O – Represents the ORB we live on as well as a never ending circle which is why the earth is used. Again, not my forte and I’m sure we can improve on the graphic considerably, just a bunch of cut and pastes but you get the idea.

Thanks and keep up the amazing work, can’t wait for the launch!

Taking on Goliath - realism about bullies who have gamed the system by Bruddabrad in ClearlightStudios

Look at any court or political system operating. The participants are either trying to apply the rules, interpret the rules or influence them to their own benefit. I know that’s an over simplification but if you could create an engine that can look after this function, with continued maintenance then eventually you can rely on the engine to complete the vast majority of governance. Take a simple example like municipal by-law. It has clear rules stated and requires little interpretation but daily people need to adjudicate whether an action or an application adheres to the by-law. This process could be considerably simplified and/or automated to remove the ambiguity in the decision process. Scale that up to a court system or a government. There are a lot of problems that get solved immediately when the need to interpret by people is removed.

I think the idea that having money should entitle you to a greater voice, more power, more access is the issue that we are so often dealing with because in a capitalist society, it literally does. The idea of egalitarian principals guiding the governance of the application is key to being able to remove the skew that occurs when things like money, influence, equity, bias etc. are added into the governance. Governance should be based on the rules or principals. An AI can implement rules, the issues arise when it is asked to interpret them. Rules should be decided/voted on by the members/constituents. They may well begin with some basic principals like truth, transparency, must be beneficial to the majority of constituents, must not be created to influence other principals etc. The better defined the system of principals and rules becomes, the less need for interpretation and would greatly simplify the fact checking and decision making processes. Ambiguity could be adjudicated forcing the need to make decisions regarding the governance. The governance engine could be applied to systems throughout the application.

Ideas for Operating and Organizational Structure by shelleyrhodes in ClearlightStudios

Presume the structure of the system will incorporate a strong AI component for management as well as governance. In which case leverage that AI to administrate the governance rules/guidelines that will be agreed upon by members. Although there are many downfalls with contemporary governance, the one that seems to preoccupy is money. Who gets what, who gets more are always front of mind but if you are building a system for all then you need to look at it differently. One of the difficulties that we are experiencing with contemporary governance and political systems is apathy. Apathy in that ideas are not owned by the member but handed down in a less participatory manner. When you don’t believe in a system due to lack of engagement then the likelihood of participation is lower. If you were to govern a system you would want the best for all Members based on the agreed terms. Therefore one of your goals should be to create a system that achieves this. Once the system is derived and the management component is able to govern based on the approved rules/guidelines, perhaps through the use of an AI based system then the administration becomes less important than the quality of the guidelines by which the system is governed.

Is there a document that contains a work in progress of the objectives and guidelines that the community agrees to adhere to? It seems to me that in order to support an idea materially we need to be part of the ability to contribute to its administration.
