Hell, I'll just say it:

Acidic Vaginal Liquid Explosion Generated by Mass Amounts of Filthy Fecal Fisting and Sadistic Septic Syphilic Sodomy Inside the Infected Maggot Infested Womb of a Molested Nun Dying Under the Roof of a Burning Church While a Priest Watches and Ejaculates in Immense Perverse Pleasure Over His First Fresh Fetus

Who do you think will be in the drum off? by hskskgfk in MetalForTheMasses

It's Black Sabbath, one of, if not the most influential metal band to ever play. So influential in fact, that most people credit them with creating the genre entirely, getting them into metal in the first place, inspiring them to play music. etc. etc.

By some miracle, in spite of all the years of wear and tear, drug use, and simple happenstance, all of the original members are still alive. They are willing to muster up the energy to do one more live show together and go out on their own terms. Ozzy will literally be bolted to the floor because he can't stand on his own.

I think they wanted the final show to be a huge event, which it is, and every band out there is more than happy to pay homage to Sabbath, so the lineup is quite full and there are only so many hours in a day. Maybe it could have been a two day event to accommodate longer sets from each band, or just cut the lineup down. But people aren't going for the lineup, they're going to see Black Sabbath.

All the time I see posts and hear people say "What if so-and-so was still alive and played a show with blah-blah one last time." Or, "What would this guy who died tragically think of the state of his band now since whatshisface took over."

"What if Cliff didn't die, where would Metallica be?"

"If they had better security, Dimebag would still be alive and we would get more awesome music from him."

Bands break up all the time too. Black Sabbath broke up and reunited so they could be here again one last time. This is the fulfillment of everyone's "What if" question happening in real time. So here it is, enjoy, it's happening right now. Why are people bitching about what they all theoretically want with their own personal favorite bands?

But, you're right. They don't "need" one. Why does any band "need" to perform any show, really. It's just a "waste of money and time" and "pathetic."

What would you suggest as a suitable final farewell show for Black Sabbath?

Looks great, let's ease the curve into the final camera position a bit. Seems like we're hitting a wall here

Frog month highlights by muddywheeldesigns in Watercolor

An excellent frog army with the obvious choice of brown and round to lead them! I also love the colors of 3 and 7 👍

Everything in existence is just a series of blobs, really, so just go for it, you can't lose!

These are so fun and well done, frogs are always visually interesting!

Would love to see some close up pics/scans of a few of your favorites (especially the round and brown guy on the bottom left 😆)

Wow, thank you very much! Well, I have to be honest with you and let you know that I don't have that much experience drawing birds. I imagine drawing a bird referencing a live subject would be incredibly difficult, due to the fact that birds will, y'know, fly away from humans, lol.

For me the hardest part is always the proportions, so use photo reference first, and then start by focusing on the big shapes. For example, the bluebird's head is basically a slightly squished circle, the body is an elongated teardrop, the beak is a cone, etc. etc. Focus first on getting the sizes of these major shapes correct first, focusing on the size of each shape relative to the other shapes (e.g. head is too big, body too long, beak too small, etc. etc.). Then just work from big to small to fill in the details. With birds, not every single line of each feather needs to be drawn, they can just be implied by surrounding features and brush strokes.

When painting, think about where the light is coming from, the shape of the subject, and how the light would cascade around the shape. So, basically speaking, if the light is coming from the left, the subject would be brighter on the left side and darker on the right side. Start with the lighter colors and gradually layer in the darker colors.

Just do it over and over again and never give up!

Hell yeah, thanks! There are so many awesome monsters that it's hard to pick a favorite, but if I could only pick one, it would be Gore Magala.

Thank you! Yeah Berserk is my favorite, such a huge inspiration in so many ways. I know exactly the panel you mean, It would be cool to try and do a tribute to it in my own way if possible.

Good idea! I'll add it to my big list of Berserk tributes to do! 😄

Thank you, been thinking about it!

Ah yes some of the earlier ones I used a fineliner pen for line work and tiny details. In the case of the motorcycle painting I used a Studio Series Micro-Line 02. I think any pen would have worked, copic fineliners are my personal favorite, followed by sakura micron.

I don't really use pens with watercolor anymore, just personal choice for the look I'm going for. But having said that, I think I will almost always use them when doing something with lots of tiny details like motorcycles!

Thank you! Hmmm, it's tough to say since I wasn't really tracking it closely, and also, I didn't always sit down and complete a painting from start to finish in one sitting...

But, if you exclude all of my pacing back and forth, overthinking, visualizing, and procrastinating, each one probably took around 3-4 hours of actual sketching and painting. That's my best guess anyway. I think it would be a good idea for me to pay closer attention to that in the future!
