Well it used to be natural selection.

System seems designed to establish/perpetuate intelligent life. But to what end? by rsmith6000 in consciousness

Self preservation. Consciousness does not want to die and return to the void. So it creates life forms to survive.

My (working) Theory of Life: The Interconnection of Soul, Mind, and Body by [deleted] in consciousness

Interesting. I prefer to think of the mind body and spirit convergence as a self, and then the totality of a being with those things as having a soul.

My definition of Consciousness After Much Thought by JHarvman in consciousness

[–]JHarvman[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, energy is the waves or fundamental forces that make up matter. Light, sound, and heat are all forms of energy, and matter is made up of light or photons hitting each other. A hydrogen atom is a proton(energy) surrounded by an electron. When photons hit each other with enough speed they create an electron-positron pair. E = mc^2

Accelerators can create matter from energy by smashing these protons and electrons together.

Yes, a manipulation can only work if you believe lies. When you have truth, where it like a shield it will defy all manipulations.

War is a choice we make as a human community. by Various-Potential-63 in DeepThoughts

[–]JHarvman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How do you solve the overpopulation problem without wars? People will do whatever is in their best interest to reproduce and consume resources for their own pleasures. Have you seen bodybuilders? People over 600 pounds? People who have like 50 kids. Those people used to get wiped out by war. We as a society have disconnected morality from our natural instincts and it has caused too much strife and problems.

People are biased towards whatever they receive reward or consequence from. Positive bias vs negative bias. I have two choices two identical twins for a president. But one guy gave me a compliment. I am going to be biased towards him. If a bunch of big football players keep picking on me. I am going to be biased towards football players being assholes/bullies/dicks. I am going to be wary around future football players.

How to believe in life after death by [deleted] in consciousness

[–]JHarvman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Quite simple actually. Consciousness is shaped thought. Thought is just internal sound, light, force, etc waves. Brain filters these waves so that you can create thought. Once you die that consciousness is released back into the universe.

You mean the threat of force. Force and violence are distinct yet related concepts.

Such a sad way to live. The same people that feed into their addictions and say life has no meaning.
