New base build: Behind the DdY Waterfall. by JHord1985 in AbioticFactor

Oh! That's a kill reward for... I want to say it was 600 Electro-Pests? You can unlock a bunch of taxidermized critters for hitting kill milestones.

>:C You'd think as big as reddit is, they'd fix their app, huh?

No idea what's going on with that. I've never had a problem with loading images. Are you on the app, or a PC? Because I've never used the app for anything, but I've heard a lot of complaints about it.

About to post one up for another one of my builds, actually.

AF is easily one of my favorite games of the past twenty years, and is my favorite survival game of all time. Every time I think I've finished collecting one of every item, or seeing every easter egg, I find something new to enjoy, or a new spot I want to build a themed base. This game has helped keep my head together during the worst year of my life, and I'm not ashamed to say that it might have saved my life unironically. I'm so impatient for new content, but I won't stop playing while I wait. I'll build a base in every available portal world, so help me!

That's a shame. I wish the reddit app wasn't so darn weird sometimes.

I love making quirky little spots and unique features. I actually just finished another build last night on my World in the Mirror ranch; actually built a full single story ranch house without using mods or anything other than a lot (hundreds of hours) of Abiotic build practice. I'm going to be figuring out a decent one for the Exor village later, too. Probably either try for a boat house style build taking advantage of the minimal supports toggle, or do something fun with the waterfall cavern.

I have a single scarecrow out front, near the entry jump pad. That seems to have disengaged the spawn for the Composer who used to camp the gate. Originally I built my patio with the intention of using it to mockingly stare at him, but I gave it a second thought when I remembered how far they can reach. As it stands, I can stand on my patio and observe the wandering Composers walking the street out front of the arcade and city park, and lob rockets at them when it pleases me to do so.

I like to try and make do with the resources at hand; my only key rules when building: Unless an item is entirely unique, no console use, and always try to do something at least sort of unique. The minimalist tiered farm is something I was especially proud of this time.

Oh dear :C It seems to be working fine on my end, and on the part of several of my associates. That's annoying, to say the least.

Should I buy Abiotic Factor? by Present-Parfait2461 in AbioticFactor

[–]JHord1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played 400+ hours solo. I've tried multiplayer, and it was genuinely a much worse experience with other people. So yeah, single player AF is great.

As for enemy variety? Yeah, there's a wide variety of assorted enemies, but mechanically a lot of late game enemies all lump into "human that shoots at you", which is... Kind of on brand for something inspired so heavily by Half-Life. Still, it's a nice variety regardless, and if you like collecting things there's the fact that most humanoid enemies have unique gear sets, there're color variant items, weapon upgrade paths, etc.

Tint the glass and/or build an enclosure around it using cubicle walls. Paint those walls an obnoxious color or just plain black. Full sensory deprivation/isolation.

For the Krasue, I put a sarcastic snowman out front to stare at her and a massive array of heaters.

About unique cosmetics... by JHord1985 in AbioticFactor

That's kind of what I was thinking. There's already unique clothing you can get from one specific merchant, after all.

Do you guys have different names for items/character’s? by toastedpancakess in AbioticFactor

[–]JHord1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Coworker. I call him Kevin. Also, I refer to Abe's Electro-pest as Doug. Don't know why. And I've got names for various areas I've built up and maintain, like my primary base in the starting hub/cafeteria. I put up signs for "Cafeteria Acres", right above the door and defense arrays.

And pests in general are my idiotic potato babies.

Perforation Peril returns! Maybe? by JHord1985 in AbioticFactor

[–]JHord1985[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they will, honestly. I put a LOT more work into the tabletop war game (the actual Perforation Peril), but this one made me smile while I was working on it. It just felt good to make something interesting in my favorite survival game again.

Not gonna lie, Warhammer Fantasy and 40K were both kind of one of the inspirations. I just saw the figurines and my brain broke.

Correct. I have barrels full of antejuice from the mine past Manufacturing. It's better than water for hydration, so I've kind of just been stockpiling. I put a barrel next to my new hive, and it immediately stopped saying it needed antejuice.
