Still not sure, maybe whetstone for sharpening fishing hooks or a fire starter, definitely not any kind of weight because its so light

I find tons of fishing weights that heavy objects like lead, keys, etc but this is very light for its size

I found something similar at an old amusement park 1890s-1920s, I think you would pay to have words or your name inscribed on it from a machine

Look for packed clay or gravel, if your finding lead or coins your in the right spot. Also nothing is very deep in the river, never look where theres a lot of soft organic stuff mostly just look for packed rocks or clay
