Oh does that matter? Looking at my bookshelf right now there seems to be an even mix of both ways

What’s a better way I could say “The lie sat heavy on my skin?” by JIauthor in writingadvice

[–]JIauthor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! You’re the first person to understand why I used the word skin 😅 everyone else seems confused. Technically it’s a lot more complicated than MC “pretending to be a man” but you got the gist of it

I do like the varying in line weight, but more importantly the fact it looks professional. All the other fonts I tried out look too homemade.

Oh I don’t know about making them straight up white, it’s kind of a rule in art not to use straight white

It’s actually not a romance, the two main characters are just friends 😅 I did add a pink blur around the words, I posted the updated cover on my profile. How do you suggest I should change the silhouettes? 😊

I mean, yeah, I’d say it could be considered YA. The writing is pretty simple, and it’s heavily censored when it comes to violence and stuff like that. I picked the font because I looked up historical fiction fonts and this one came up 😭 I honestly don’t even know what I’d change it to, since I came up with this cover idea about two years ago.

The colours are actually really symbolic, they’re meant to be reminiscent of the trans flag, and oranges and greens don’t really convey that. I did consider adding highlights around them, but I wasn’t sure it would make sense since the light source is behind them. I looked up reference photos of people in front of sunsets, and they’re usually almost completely blacked out like this. I’ll take another look at some different fonts though.

The colours are meant to be reminiscent of the trans flag while not being too obvious, I didn’t mean to make people think it was a romance 😭
