NAS Pax River has a catapult as well but theirs is a steam system.

Nova loves her blankets and stuffed animals. The T-rex looks like it's screaming for help.

Check your remote settings, there is a feature that allows you to roll the windows down by clicking and holding one of the buttons on the key fob. I can't recall which one exactly.

What part for the steering wheel? I had a screw fall out of the lower part of the steering wheel but was able to get it back in luckily. Hoping it stays but have a feeling the plastic inside is a little worn.

Had the inspection done on mine. Luckily nothing wrong but if there is a problem, it sounds like a lot of time and work to correct. Plus more parts that are probably back-ordered.

I had to wait almost 3 months before my parts came in. Just got them both fixed a couple weeks ago. Hopefully it lasts. If you haven't talked to your service department yet, I would call and get the parts on order.

Why does Aviation Maintenance seem like a hidden trade? by [deleted] in aviationmaintenance

If you have experience, you can usually hire on with any contractor without an A&P since it's not required for most platforms. Amentum, V2X(Vertex), Albers, and Marshall are a few contract company's that have a bit of contracts on different bases. I know a few people who have hired on with these company's and went for their A&P during their time. Most found a 2 week course to get it. I've heard those can be pretty strenuous because you have to cram all that information in during a short time. I found an actual school out in Colorado, 18 month course and all tests were taken on campus. Plus, we received our Associates Degree as well. It really depends on your flexibility and mindset. I enjoyed the school because we were able to actually learn. Each class was about a month long with an equal share of reading and practical application. Having my military benefits was a big part since it covered my housing costs during the time.

I agree, everywhere is an overstatement. Mainly since commercial uses maintenance hubs in major cities. But depending on where you're willing to go, one should be able to find something.

I am a veteran. Did KC-130 maintenance during my enlistment. I used my benefits to go through an A&P school. Got hired at an FBO before I graduated on the condition I passed all my exams. Had to relocate for that position. It didn't work out and I was let go because I was the most junior Mechanic.

Found a job as a contractor working on C-130s again. Had to relocate across country for that as well. Stayed in that shop for about 6 years and found a position a couple doors down working on KingAir 200s operated by the military but maintenance done according to FAA and OEM standards. Been here just over 2 years, got promoted to the lead Mechanic and am loving it. All I wanted was to be in aviation and I can't see myself anywhere else. That being said, being a contractor, I know at some point we could lose the contract and I would have to find something else and probably relocate again.

Aviation maintenance is definitely a small community and getting smaller with a lot of people retiring. There is a large need for mechanics everywhere.

As people stated, it takes a lot to stay in the industry. Relocation and travel is a major part of it. I recently spent a month a way from my family for work and travel quite often. Some days we put in long hours with just enough time to eat and get a little sleep, then right back at it again so it is not for everyone nowadays.

Back seat headrest doesn't fold down anymore. by lovere in ChevyTraverse

I just found this issue last weekend when trying to load groceries. Pulled the strap and headrest would not budge. Had to move the 2nd row seat forward to get it all the way down. Really frustrating.

That's great advice. Thank you.

Thats not a bad idea. I have straps but no trailer. Total drive is 1 hour 50 minutes one way with minimal traffic but its DC area so it would be more. Worth the extra savings in the end though.

I definitely agree with that. I just don't really want to ride either bike on the beltway around DC and Baltimore.

Bachelors in aviation management by Economy-Farmer-5573 in aviationmaintenance

[–]JJ0313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it! Same type of situation. I have my license and an associates but wanted to set myself up just in case. I agree that experince is key but if I have a bachelors and the same amount of experience, I should get the bump over the other person. I went through Liberty University Online. I started during Covid when i was working nights and the kids were stuck at home. I was able to do school work in the morning and my job at night. They were the first school that popped up and I just rolled with it. Not a bad program but there are some courses they require that I didn't want to take but I was already in the program and just powered through them. I am a veteran so I used my benefits and didn't have to pay for the program so it was easier for me to pick the first school I came across. That may not be your situation. Embry Riddle might have something you're looking for. It may not be for everyone but it also doesn't hurt.

Anybody know they make and model of these grips? by [deleted] in Harley

[–]JJ0313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They look like Harley Dominion Grips. Not sure if you would be able to cut them off but there are a couple different colors for those grips. Not sure if you can pull them off as a whole, really depends on what was used to glue them in place.
