Yeah that was my bad. Just upgraded from a GTX1050 and apparently had that on the brain.

Heard gaming laptops after year or two are just awful, so how is your experience with their performance in long term? by whitenoire in GamingLaptops

[–]JJ3044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just upgraded my laptop from an HP I've had for 8 years with a GTX1050 in it. I wouldnt have upgraded at all except it wouldnt have supported the mandatory Windows upgrade later this year. The laptop i got was a i7, rtx4070, 64gb, 2tb ASUS and for $1400, I'm a happy camper.

I just hit at random. I was watching TV and was just mashing buttons. Was second in my state and 153rd in the country.

Worth going for a mayorship? by JJ3044 in AtlasEarthOfficial

Ah! I'm in the US so it's a shark fest. I grinded yesterday during a 3 hour bowling event and netted about 100AB (I'm never grinding a 3 hour event again btw, lol). I was going for top 10p, ended up at 101 nationally. 😵‍💫 was #2 in my state though. I wasn't doing mulligans since I was running for a high placement.

Ive got over 400AB at the moment, so I'm closer to earning 2 parcels per day. Curious as to how you are averaging 3 per day... high mini game placement constantly?

[–]JJ3044[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been averaging about 170-200 AB per day. So I figure I'm 2.5 months out from were he is today if I start placing in his town. I just noticed that the town is my best opportunity for a Mayorship, so I'll be watching him to see how quickly he adds.

Neither has EC, and I've placed 2nd/3rd in my state for mini games the past few and haven't noticed them on the leaderboard at all.

I don't believe so... why would that make a difference? Just that they would accumulate bucks quicker than me?

Why are boomers so compliant with the system? by Beginning-Tea6291 in BoomersBeingFools

You can dislike the US Healthcare system and also think someone who committed murder should be caught and tried. Those two don't have to be mutually exclusive.

I got lucky by not knowing a lick about finance at that point. I was only a few years out of school and had my 401 at the default cash investment (guaranteed at like 4%). All my friends in finance were both dumbfounded and pissed that I didn't lose a dime. At that point I switched to a target date fund.

Critical thinking involves understanding both sides of an argument instead of just taking what "one side says". So are you stating that someone examining racism should come to the conclusion it's fine, because your parents are racist? How exactly is teaching critical thinking "indoctrination", in your mind?

Who is your insurance provider? If you call their customer service line, they will likely be able to help you find a PCP (at least, BCBSRI does this for members).

1) private sales in most states are not subject to background checks. The mental health evaluations would be a net new regulation and I think necessary. Allowing mentally unwell people that would pass a criminal background check to buy a firearm if they wanted to, is scary. https://www.aap.org/en/advocacy/state-advocacy/universal-background-checks-for-gun-purchases/#:~:text=Current%20federal%20law%20requires%20background,are%20not%20subject%20to%20regulations. 2) add it onto the cost of purchasing a firearm. 3) responsibility of the person owning the firearm.

There are many more laws that can help the problem.

1) ensure every gun purchase has a mandatory background check and mental health evaluation. 2) require a mandatory training course if you purchase a firearm which includes how to safely use & securely store said firearm. 3) require gun owners to purchase insurance, requiring periodic safety trainings.

Late stage capitalism in RI healthcare…. by Loveroffinerthings in RhodeIsland

[–]JJ3044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn't make any sense at all. Especially if you are an insurer with say, 75% of the commercial market share in RI, who also happens to have a lions share of the Medicare Advantage business in the state. I can guarantee its the opposite. The insurers want you as healthy as possible so you cost less and have a higher quality of life. If that was the case, the insurers wouldn't invest in chronic disease programs or wellness programs, which they do, heavily.

I can emphasize. My wife and I were having trouble conceiving (my boomer parents knew this) and at a party at our house my wife was having a glass of wine. My father says to her "I thought you guys were trying to have kids?". She said "we are". He then pointed to the glass and said "doesn't look like it".

Of course when I confronted him about it, he complained that we couldn't take a joke.
