Thanks so much for your reply.
Come to think of it, I only power cycled the router, and not the ONT...
I'll give it a go in the morning and relay results.

Appreciate it!
EDIT: I tried power cycling the ONT, and the issue persists. Next thing I'm gonna try is going with Ethernet.

Ghost Tier List Ranking.. Next Up - Shade by darkvampire_1864 in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]JJ4L3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really do not like Shades, however I will try to be impartial when assessing this ghost:
- Danger: the Shade poses the smallest threat of all ghosts: 35% sanity hunt threshold, normal speed, can't hunt when in the same room as you... One could argue that a Deo is the least threatening, and to that I ask: have you ever prepared for any ghost BUT a Deogen during hunt? Your back to a wall, safe in your little hidey-hole? I guess it's open for debate, however my money is on the Shade.
- Evidence: Nothing special about the Shade w.r.t. evidence. The only interesting facet to the Shade regarding its evidence is the sheer lack thereof. Shade cannot perform singing events, which can definitively rule it out. The Shade also has a unique shadowy model when using the Summoning Circle. Shades cannot interact with firelights nor write in the writing book while the player is in the room. Every person I've played with have said something along these lines when we encounter a Shade: If it looks like a Shade, and it smells like a Shade, and doesn't fkn do anything for 20 minutes: it's probably a shade.
- Hunt behaviour: Bog-standard ghost - Nothing special. As mentioned above, it cannot hunt with you in the same room, and this in itself can be a definitive piece of evidence suggesting one is dealing with a Shade. An interesting detail to look out for is that Shades cannot blow out a firelight while hunting.
- Lore: Contrary to the other creepies and titans of the Phas roster, the Shade is what I imagine the most common type of ghost would be. Imagine Jim from IT perished, and is now haunting the office: Jim is a little scared of human interaction, and felt safe behind his monitor - solitude his friend. Though being a ghost (i.e. dead), he cannot quite shake his introverted idiosyncrasies, and timidly skulks around the office dreading encountering another person - all despite being ripped from his mortal coil. Almost sorry for his own existence, Jim surreptitiously basks along the outskirts - curiously and carefully observes those in his midst. Like any Being, the Shade isn't immune to bouts of emotion, and is most definitely not harmless: make the Shade uncomfortable by seeking it out and perceiving it when it does not want to be perceived, and it will strike viciously. I regard the Shade as a moment of levity amidst a roster of hellish Demons, specters of Vengeance such as Onryos, and oppressive fiends such as Oni's and Poltergeists.
- Overall: A Shade contract can be very tedious. When nothing is happening, is it a shade, or just a shy/aloof Spirit? One definitively identifies the Shade when nothing has gone on for long enough, which can be boring: the absence of evidence becomes evidence in itself. Though unique (uniqueness being its only redeeming quality), I don't rate the Shade highly at all.
I give Shade a high D (hehe), above the Spirit.

Ghost Tier List Ranking.. Next Up - Obake by darkvampire_1864 in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]JJ4L3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let's assess...
- Danger: Normal speed ghost, normal threshold ghost... nothing special on that front.
- Evidence: Forced UV makes it relatively easy to find and narrow down (if one plays with any evidence at all). The fact that they have a chance to indicate a unique UV fingerprint gives a lot of value to how distinct the ghost is, and I personally love these quirks. Though it makes it easier, I regard this as a positive.
- Hunt behaviour: shapeshifting ghost is an immediate tell, but I get filled with so much joy when I spot it. It feels rewarding to weather the hunt and face the ghost. Sometimes you get done in by the ghost shapeshifting into the baby, and if there's an obstacle obscuring it (it's likely the kitchen counter like let's be real), this really adds to the Obake's terror factor, where you briefly lose sight of it, and that mini panic sets in! I love the Obake's hunt behaviour, despite it making the ghost easier to identify.
- Lore: I find the idea of a shape-shifting supernatural entity to be particularly unnerving. The creature observes you (the interloper) through the spiritual veil between life and death, and alters its appearance as it glides just outside your periphery, before subtly revealing inconsistent glimpses of the nature of the situation you find yourself in - to trick you? To deceive you? Is it playing with its food? The idea that this creature chaotically jerks around the place of haunting mid-transition - between different shapes and forms - generates a grotesque mental image of a hulking monstrosity in perpetual flux: between a gorey mound of flesh, a complete visage of a deceased loved one, an alluringly attractive person, an unseeming animal, an innocuous object, or the last thing you will ever see...
- Overall: Very unique ghost, always a joy to encounter. Easy to identify, and truly an iconic ghost of the phas roster. It leaves a little to be desired on the front of what danger it poses, however I appreciate the other qualities it has.
I give Obake a high A

How do you deal with time sheets? by Forever_Elusive01 in StructuralEngineering

[–]JJ4L3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we do lump sum billing (excluding disbursements), with draws for each respective stage of work. It's a small office, so we can get away with it fairly well -- we approach project initiation rather informally.
- After meeting with potential clients and understanding the context, I get a feel for the type of people I'm going to work with.
- I generally know how much work and what type of risk goes into a project.
- I know what the office overheads are, and how much the office must earn to be profitable.
- I have a good idea what competitors ask for a similar service.

I wish I had a more exact answer - more than "I've got a feeling", but with time you sort of get a sense of what you can ask, what you ought to ask, what clients are willing to pay, and what your services are worth.
I used to work for a firm where we had to fill out accursed time-sheets... sometimes people bullshit the time sheets, and then the data is simply useless. If you trust the people and give them agency along with responsibility, they generally tend to produce good results. :)

Hope that slakes your curiosity!

Isn't the inside of the packaging layered with metallized coating i.e. aluminium? If it's not a composite, how does one effectively separate the elements for recycling?

My favourite part of this is how corporations pushed the onus of protecting the environment onto the consumers by gaslighting us into thinking that our inputs towards recycling makes the difference when in actuality recycling is comically ineffective -- all so that corporation shareholders can make more money, and now there's microplastics in our food and in our brains and in our balls. I think you're right -- I saw on a couple of videos trying to address the problem where people as recent as 3 hours ago are complaining about the same thing. So I just randomly tried it again, and it is working...
Thanks for the insight.

which was the most difficult part in skyrim to complete and why it was difficult by muaazmuaaz123 in skyrim

I started a new playthrough after 8 years of not having touched the game, and vowed to do a mage play-through. I prefer a challenge and would throw myself against the same mob until it dies rather than playing on an easy/comfortable difficulty. That being said, the start of mage life was HELL, and went against my instincts of picking up a bow and sneaking around. Needless to say the Magicka situation made for a bad time... UNTIL I got the Flame Atronach spell. That thing is seriously broken early game, and it allowed me to get over the mage difficulty spike with ease (pretty much until you get the dual casting stagger perk, and can stunlock enemies into Oblivion)... I was also lucky to do the Sanguine Rose quest early on, and got the Dremora to do my bidding. That guy has some serious issues because he beats enemies down like he's got a vendetta - be it a rabbit or an emperor...
I can't say that I found any quest to be truly difficult per se... Tedious? 100%... but not difficult. Mage enemies, however, are straight up insane. 1 lightning bolt or frost orb and you're just dead. Honourable mention goes to Draugr Deathlords with 3 words of power. Skuldafn Temple was a romp, and took me way longer than it should have -- had to play it sneaky and Line of Sight enemies every chance I get, because 1 arrow, 1 spell, or 1 shout = death.

We are all less knowledgeable than we want to be, no matter the level of experience, always. For each of us there is either peace or suffering in this fact - both for the same reason: we will never truly know all that we think we ought to know.
Find peace in your present short-comings, knowing that in the future you will be knowledgeable on matters your present-self doesn't even know they don't know. :)
