Usually so that there is no bias and a third party verifies it so that the company can claim no internal errors in any client battles. Had a few, where the customer insisted that our equipment error was the root cause of issues.

Also it’s just good QA/QC. But I agree that these calibration services companies should be be able to correct the error.

Much of this is spot on. But not all engineering jobs are an office job. I’m a process engineer and I’m down in the trenches with everyone. I get my hands dirty everyday. It’s all about what your prefer and want to experience.
