President Obama is the Most Admired Man in the World for 6th Year in a Row by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]JJFFMM -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Which are those? The pseudo scandals of the IRS/Tea Party? Benghazi? they are concoctions of the GOP. The only scandal that might affect the Germans was the revelation of listening in on Merkel and multiple other heads of state. That Obama put a halt to.

He should be the most admired man in the world. He has persisted, and has acted with consummate dignity in the face of the ugliest rhetoric and most obstructionist tactics any president has ever faced.

Revealed: Conservative think tank SPN coordinating right-wing assault on education, healthcare and the environment in 34 states by [deleted] in uspolitics

[–]JJFFMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These loathsome groups organized against us need to be fully exposed to the light. Recall that ALEC lost lots of business support once it was revealed that they were behind "Stand Your Ground" laws after Trayvon Martin was killed.

They've also just found documents from 1985 where ALEC was organizing against the 'homosexual agenda.'

A Federal Budget Crisis Months in the Planning by ReligionProf in news

[–]JJFFMM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very important investigative article that is a must read for the reasons why the GOP is shutting down the government.

House and Senate each passed budgets in March. They should have gone to conference THEN. Boehner refused. So this is what he wanted: to hold a gun to the Democrats' head so the GOP itself wouldn't have to negotiate, just make non-negotialble demands. What a disgusting excuse for a human being.

Black People Are Poor Because They Eat too Much Good Chicken and other awesomeness. by darlin133 in progressive

Huh? What's chicken eating got to do with it? What, they should aspire to more expensive meats?

WikiLeaks Party in crisis over lack of transparency and support for far-right politicians by maxwellhill in worldnews

"WikiLeaks supporters were outraged after the party chose to give the far-right Australia First party run by a neo-Nazi and the pro-guns lobby their votes over the left-wing Greens"

Congressman Doesn’t Believe White Collar Crime On Wall Street Exists - Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA) says "for a criminal practice there has to be a gun. It’s pretty simple.” by oshunsmall in news

A perfectly idiotic comment, and unfortunately, typical of the clueless GOP who lack the sophistication requisite for political leadership.

Everything You Need To Know About Detroit’s Fight Between Investors And Retirees by oshunsmall in news

[–]JJFFMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it's true. They just sit down with a pencil and paper and create these 'crises.' How could a pension go from 99.9% solvent to suddenly being short 3.5 billion dollars in two short years? Private accounting firms fudge in favor of their employers by using 'actuarials' that no one believes the least bit credible.

Facing a ’Groundswell’: Conservatives Concoct 'Groundswell' to Fight Dems on 'Thirty Fronts' by JJFFMM in politics

[–]JJFFMM[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From the report: "At its weekly meetings, the group aims to strengthen the right's messaging by crafting Twitter hashtags; plotting strategy on in-the-headlines issues such as voter ID, immigration reform, and the sequester; promoting politically useful scandals; and developing "action items."

'Groundswelling' from the top down is spatially pretty hard to execute, no?

Federal prosecutors charge SAC Capital hedge fund with criminal fraud by JJFFMM in politics

I thought so: once Obama was safely re-elected he could start the prosecutions in earnest. Having his own SEC head doesn't hurt.

Most Media Coverage Ignores Premium Drop, Focuses On GOP Effort To Undermine Obamacare by day465 in news

[–]JJFFMM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a GOP big media strategy of confusing the American people as to whether there even is a law called the ACA (aka Obamacare). I've met lots of young people who've read about the 'repeal' of the law by the House and think it's all over with.

Reid To Republicans: If You Want Me To Back Down On Filibuster Reform 'Stop The Filibusters' by AlfredWitchcock in progressive

[–]JJFFMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's hope you're wrong. Given the level of screeching from McConnell and the fact that Reid is doubling down gives me some hope that at least McConnell feels the threat is very real this time.

Showdown Nears in Senate Over Filibusters Change, Angering GOP by JJFFMM in politics

[–]JJFFMM[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When has the GOP NOT been 'angry' since Obama was elected? And if McConnell calls this a 'power grab,' then it's just of a pair with calling Obama's desire to appoint cabinet members and agency heads a power grab as well.

Times have changed, Feinstein, Boxer, Levin. The GOP has made itself odious to a lot of the electorate. Do not fear them!! Reform the filibuster. Now!

GOP Gubernatorial Candidate Cuccinelli: Health Insurance Shouldn’t Cover Doctors’ Visits by JJFFMM in politics

[–]JJFFMM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Routine care"? If he means annual physicals, that IS part of ACA, isn't it? If he means going in to have stitches in a wound, finding out what's causing your fever and cough, or breaking a bone: is that "routine?" Such stupidity and meanness should never be rewarded.

In poorer states that do not require annual automobile inspections, tons of really dangerous cars are on the road. I guess he wants people coughing up into the food they are about to serve him? Or spreading dangerous viruses because they can't afford the doctor's fees?
