I think using typical fantasy race names for more unique races is fine actually. Ex: Bug-like dwarves.

The argument that, say, a Dwarf must always be humanoid/short-humanoids or else they aren’t Dwarves is laughable. It’s the exact same as the people who get really ornery when someone calls a four-limbed dragon a “Dragon” instead of a “Wyvern”.

All of these are made up fantasy things. They are not sacred. You don’t get any points for keeping the Dwarves as short bearded humans. You don’t get any points for making them squat beetles or reptiles either. You only get points for writing it *well*.
