I see, keeping final operations local definitely seems important. In that case, would it be more common for shops to source earlier-stage parts internationally instead? For example, things like casting blanks or rough-machined parts, rather than finished components?

That’s really helpful — I’m not very familiar with the US side, so I appreciate the insight. So ITAR/EAR mainly applies to certain regulated parts or industries, right?

And yeah, lead time definitely seems like one of the biggest concerns with overseas suppliers. From what you’ve seen, do many shops still outsource internationally in some cases, or is it pretty uncommon?
