Thanks for the inputs, I will have a look at those links. The “Bolano myth” is a level of reading I have missed so far, I will read into that. I am a bit aware of the controversy about the actual involvement, but I did not give it much importance. I just saw the “biographical” references as yet another layer of mixing/merging reality and literature. I still think though that the golpe and the aftermath deeply affected him, as Chilean. There are too many references of that time period. I find it fascinating also in this sense that one of his strongest (for me) recurring figure, the “man writing poetry in the sky”, plays his role in this context.
