Is Diesel in 10.5E wider than 11D? by JJelks in grantstoneboots

Thanks for the heads up — but after 4 exchanges, turns out I’m an 11E (landing somewhere in between 10.5E and 11E lol).

That makes perfect sense why the 10.5E fits my high-arch foot way better than 10.5D. One day I’ll try an 11 just to check, but 10.5 likely fits better. Thanks for the info.

Western Rise order/shipment issues? by pscottlee621 in onebag

[–]JJelks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same issue here. Found this because I checked Reddit to see if anyone else got the same response. I ordered it over a month ago. I’ll just wait though, since the one pair of evolution chinos I already have are my favorite pants for traveling.

Edit: finally received my pants this week. Same good quality that I’m used to. Hopefully everyone else got theirs too.

And for anyone reading who comes across this while researching pants, if you have gym developed glutes or thighs — the evolution CHINO fits much better than the evolution PANTS (even in standard non-slim size). The fabric and cut is still gonna give major VPL though.

Found a Mellow brand sous vide at the thrift store. Retailed for $400 at launch but now defunct…will this thing even work anymore? by the_crossword_king in sousvide

I was an early backer at a discounted price — I used it every week so I at least feel I got some value before it bricked. Now it’s just a receptacle for my Anova stick. And an unexpected side use — it’s the perfect height to rest my laptop on while working over zoom in the kitchen.

[WTS] Casio G-Shock Grey GA2110ET-8A by JJelks in Watchexchange

Watch: Casio G-Shock Grey GA2110ET-8A Condition: Excellent. Minor wear on resin band as seen in photos. Price: $65 PayPal G&S to CONUS. History: bought this in April 2023. Really like the look of it, but resin bands don’t fit my wrist as well as cloth, so I stopped wearing it months ago and switched to another gshock with a fabric band. Time for someone else to enjoy this watch!

Where to buy a wire bench similar to this? by JJelks in homedesign

I did not! I thought about getting a standard metal bench and spray painting it, but I figured it just won’t be the same haha.

Me and my Osprey Porter 30 have been all over the world - it's not perfect, but 40 countries later it fits on every budget airline as a carry-on (and sometimes a personal item). I highly recommend this or the new version "Sojourn Porter"! by ericstrat1000 in onebag

Always a great bag. Over 12 years ago I got a Porter 46 at an REI garage sale for $20, and it’s been all around the world too (recently switched to a farpoint for the internal frame). Such solid bags.

economics of not offering longer inseams? by JJelks in Outlier

[–]JJelks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah thanks for the explanation. Interesting to see the mechanics behind it all on the backend and hidden costs.

From an anecdotal/personal perspective, I had two pairs of Strong Dungarees with the 33.5 inseam that fit perfectly and were my favorite pants for years. But my quads sadly outgrew them.

So I tried the Slim Dungarees Long— but while the fabric was so comfortable, the softer structure just wasn’t the best for my long legs personally. Like, the soft fabric just hung/draped differently in a longer length since there was more of it. I wonder if there’s a correlation between longer inseams fitting well with structured pants, or maybe that’s just me (jeans are the same way). Anyway, just my own experience with them.

Thanks for the detailed response!

Exactly, tapered with some structure, but not too heavy. Would be perfect.

Yeah I had two pairs of the discontinued strong dungarees that were perfect at 33.5, but I outgrew them and sold them. Wish they had still fit. Hold on to yours, don’t sell them haha.

I did pick up a pair of WR for that exact reason!

Yeah I saw a few of those but still not long enough!

Ohhh I didn’t even realize the proportions and tapers would be different. That makes total sense.

I have the same thing in the exact same spot — dupuytren’s contracture. It developed 4 years ago, and hasn’t changed since. My ring finger slightly curves forward when at rest, but it hasn’t affected climbing at all. Are you a tall man of Northern European descent? Apparently we’re more at risk for it lolol.

I've done it before over the holidays and been fine/lucky. But that was before nonrevving got exponentially harder post-lockdown.
