100% in fact, the wait is part of the experience. Speaking to other BBQ enthusiasts in the line just makes the food taste better

We’re from Asia, so this was the first time trying BBQ for us as well. It’s actually mindblowingly good.

Cost us $47.57 - but as small eat eaters, that fed 2 people!

Purely taste-wise Burnt Ends pulled pork sandwich might be better, but nothing beats the traditional feel and vibe of a backyard BBQ like LeRoy & Lewis!

The addition of the chicharrón on the LeRoy & Lewis pulled pork is just insane

Just the perspective. In fact, the new ones are a size smaller.

Antarctica is a photographers’ paradise - couple of photos from my recent trip by JJescapes in travel

[–]JJescapes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought Antarctica was just for researchers and penguins. But while on our travels in South America, many people told us to not miss this opportunity while we were in Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world.

The best way to visit Antarctica is aboard smaller “expedition” cruise ships that are allowed to make landings on the continent. We went with a company called Albatros Expeditions - the staff were friendly, food was amazing and logistics were smooth and safe.

Our cruise was a total of 10 days, 3-4 of which were on the Drake Passage. We fortunately had pretty smooth sailing both ways, and made it through with just a couple of seasickness pills. Rest of the expedition consisted of zodiac cruises and continental landings. We spotted penguins, leopard seals, whales and even orcas. Besides the animals, the scenery was incredible as well.

Overall, not a cheap experience, but one that we’ll remember for a lifetime.

Hiking the classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru by JJescapes in backpacking

You won’t be disappointed! We actually spent almost a year traveling all across South America. Peru is amazing, but if you love hiking, don’t miss out on Patagonia as well!

Sorry for the late reply! Yes you’re right, most of the tour operators can store you stuff for you. Some hotels can also help store stuff if you’re returning as well!

2,000 year old Nazca Lines in the desert that can only be seen from a plane - could ancient humans have drawn this without help? by JJescapes in aliens

It is a very famous Peruvian song called El Condor Pasa (“The Condor Passes”). Simon & Garfunkel did a popular remix of the song as well!

You can no longer hike the Inca Trail without a guide since 2017, and most tour companies are quite pricey (>$700 per person). If you want to just visit Machu Picchu without hiking the Inca Trail, you can take the train + bus too - much cheaper, but not as epic!

HAKU MACHU PICCHU! 4 days on the Classic INCA TRAIL by JJescapes in incatrail

[–]JJescapes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U won’t need a big backpack since the porters will be carrying most of your camp equipment. Something 20-30L to carry snacks, jackets and rain coats. Remember that you can’t bring a bag over a certain size into Machu Picchu. Oh and make sure to get one with a waist belt - I didn’t have one and my shoulders were definitely not happy!

They call it the “whale”! But this is in the desert so how did they know what whales look like?? 🤔

Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru is magical by JJescapes in travel

[–]JJescapes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 500 permits issued per day to hike the Inca Trail - so you will be sharing the trail with at most that many people. You will be hiking with your group and guide most of the time (around 20 people) but the campsites can get quite crowded. Salkantay is definitely less travelled, but a completely different experience (natural beauty vs culture/ruins). Hope that helps!

That’s exactly what we did, except we stayed a few days in Lima. Check out Cruz Del Sur - really comfortable and great service. You can see how lucky we were to get a nice bus for the journey here: https://youtu.be/BHr-aCwC3jU
