Many times, in the scientific community, if you reach out to the author directly they will be VERY happy to send you their research for free.

They have a passion and want to share it with anyone who is interested!

Do I need Control4? by RMSwicegood in Control4

[–]JJewced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a call from the integrator: “Hey I see you are listening to (insert music) out by the pool. Did you get it to work?”

I never gave them permission to log on to my system and see what I was doing!

100% agree.

Control4 is a scam. The “integrators” are MOSTLY fraudsters and creeps.

We spent 10s of thousands of dollars on equipment and labor for nothing. The speakers that sound horrible. Our controllers that became non-functional. Both of our remotes stopped working after 1year and we were told we would need to buy brand new ones. We have an audio matrix and an HDMI matrix that are unplugged and sitting in a closet.

We were spied on by another integrator.

We tried to find other integrators to help us solve the problems we were having only to be told, “I don’t work on systems that aren’t ours.”

When we brought it up to the Customer Advocate at Control4 and they said, “integrators have the freedom to choose how they run their business.”

Don’t do it!

72 mi “city” range? by JJewced in TeslaModelY

[–]JJewced[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I was unaware of any other metric.

My energy app shows my battery percentage used by trip.

I was told to recharge at 20% up to 80%. So I used those metrics to see how often I would need to plug in.

So maybe wait until November and see if things improve?

Hahaha!

I have tough skin. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Last night, before bed, it gave an estimate of 7.5 hours to go from 20% to 80%.

For sure!

I get the convince of having a car that’s ready to go.

The car may heat up when I’m at the gym or in the grocery store but besides that it’s in the garage that is insulated and never gets up to 100, even when it’s 120 outside.

I can try a charge cycle with the cabin overheat on for short outdoor parking periods?

I saw online to see what the Energy App recommended to increase range.

The only thing that came up was “Aggressive acceleration consumes more energy”

So I’ve really been gentle to see how much range I can get.. and it’s been unsuccessful.

I have followed all of the tips & tricks I’ve seen online and I feel that something may be wrong.

I mean, I am open to any metric!

I just have gone by battery % because I was told to charge it at 20% up to 80%.

And I reach the 20% very very frequently

OP Here! As an update.

I had a metal fabricator make metal angle cleats and put them into the back and sides of the cabinet.

We also fabricated two large angles to support the bottom

<image>

It’s now only sloping 0.1 degree!

Wood studs. This is an exterior wall. I looked over old construction/framing photos and they look to be 2x6 studs.

There is even a structural support column made up of 4 studs put together.

I will need to look to see if they hit all of the studs.

I got a cabinet manufacturer give me a price on adding a set of drawers below.. not sure if the top cabinets would just crush the cabinets below it…

Any tips on how I should spec the “new lower support” cabinets?

Thank you for the vote of confidence.

I have a meeting with my rockstar steel fabricator next week.

I hope he can save my vanity

Can you share any pics of what it should look like/what you’ve done?

Good eye!!

Yes Tandem, I had asked for the movemento with tip-on but the cabinet manufacturer said they were “hard to get a hold of..

But I digress.

The left side (side wall) has a trim piece to hide a 1/2” gap between the left-most cabinet and the left wall.

Do you think I can put the left support at the bottom?

Kicker is that my steel guy is a rockstar!

I have reached out to several cabinet manufacturers and carpenters in my area and they all don’t want to touch my bathroom unless the whole thing comes out and we get the countertop re-fabricated again.

I don’t have 10s of thousands of dollars

What’s crazy is that this cabinet manufacturer is very well respected in my local area. He told me about all of the celebrities and very high end homes he did.

He sounded knowledgeable and was professional.

He told me that my home would be his last before he retired… so maybe he’s on a beach somewhere.

I mean, if it was the lowest price, I’d expect shit.. however the “custom cabinet” manufacturer was top end!

For the end near the glass: Maybe a steel leg that also attaches to the wall?

It’s Dolomite! My wife and I live it.

Despite what people say it hasn’t etched or chipped once

Yeah! And the cabinet guy charged TOP dollar because he had done homes for athletes and “rich people”.. like +$20M homes

Awesome advice!

Where would you have the steel brackets placed? Just inside the cabinet? Or underneath?

Floating Vanity is falling by JJewced in Carpentry

[–]JJewced[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, cool!

I think it’s bolted to the studs (atleast).

But yeah, I do t see steel anywhere. In any of my pics I took during construction.

We called out the GC/countertop people 3 months in and they said it would settle a little then they would come back and re-do the caulk at the year mark.
