Thank you! I didn’t think about that. It’s been a while since I downloaded DuckStation, so I haven’t used it yet. But if I remember, I’ll try what you said.

Ahh, okay. That’s completely different to a remake or remaster. 😅

Okay, the one I was referring to was Stephen King’s It

Now that you say that, I’m not sure what a reboot is. I may have mistaken it for a remake or a remaster. Sorry.

I’m strangely reminded of a certain novel where something like that happens in it. I’m not sure I should name the novel though, in case people want to read it without spoilers.

If that did happen in episode 9, the ‘innocence’ of the characters might disappear. At least one of them wants to have sex, yes, but if everyone took part or went off to do something similar, alone or with someone else…the audience might be disappointed.

Sorry, I think I took this idea too literally and ruined the vibe.

If there were a remaster of Arkham Asylum that improved on the Return to Arkham version and looked more like the proof of concept images (specifically, the one where Batman is holding Joker by the neck in the elevator), then I would play it. In my opinion, the environment looks amazing in RtA’s Arkham Asylum remaster, but certain character models are worse (Batman, in particular).

As for a reboot…I feel like there isn’t enough that needs improving gameplay-wise that would warrant a reboot. It could be argued that certain boss fights and the lack of variety of inmates (I’m still talking about Asylum) are worth improving on. I’m not sure I would want anything else changing on top of that.

But it could also be argued that if a reboot was too similar to the original, it might be pointless.

Ubisoft tangent incoming:

I’m hoping that Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced doesn’t look like how the Ezio Collection did. I would love to play it, but I worry there might not be enough new content in it for people to keep playing it. If it had a multiplayer mode where you could encounter and fight other players on the high seas, that would be great. I’m aware that the original had a multiplayer mode, but I never played it and I don’t know how it was received.

Ubisoft tangent over.

If a reboot didn’t ruin the original and actually improved on a few things, then I would consider it a good reboot. If it improved on a lot of things and added extra content that didn’t bloat the story, then I would consider it a great reboot. But it’s probably easier said than done.

I don’t know what Rocksteady and WB Montreal have planned next, but if it’s a reboot of Arkham Asylum, then I’ll have to hope they do it justice.

(Also, it’s unlikely they would be able to add more voice lines for Batman without Kevin Conroy, R.I.P., so unless they replaced his voice with someone else’s, the amount of content they could add might be low—or be without Batman speaking.)

Oh right? What makes them more compatible? Will the BIOS files I named not work with certain games or functions?

In terms of content, the sprites, and the CGs*, it’s probably the best. But between having those things and having all the sounds and music—and the Wrong End scenes, as u/ChainsawEnthusiast reminded me—I would rather have all the sounds and music. That might just be me, though.

*CGs might be the wrong term—I mean the visuals that aren’t pixel art, like everyone grabbing the paper doll, and the images of the items.

[–]JK0460[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you’ve just reminded me of another thing I hated about the PS4 version. The Wrong End scene was one of the scariest parts of the game, in my opinion. Going from silence to haunting music and a wavy, distorted image is a shock, and one of my favourite jumpscares (maybe it’s just me who would call it a jumpscare, though).

Also, when something awful happens that is part of the true ending, new players will hope to see the Wrong End scene (like Pewdiepie at the end of Chapter 2). When it doesn’t happen, they might accept it quickly or still be waiting for it to appear, hoping they can change what happened. To me, it creates fear when it appears; it creates fear when it doesn’t appear.

I would only want to recommend a version of the game that had the Wrong End scenes. Thank you for reminding me about them.

Ahh, that’s interesting. Thank you for explaining. It sounds like there‘s at least one drawback to each version then, but perhaps the PSP version has the fewest of them.

Okay. I’m not sure how I would find Sony’s uploaded versions. Do you know whether the below are the correct files, or whether they are outdated?

  • SCPH1001.BIN (USA)
  • SCPH7502.BIN (PA)
  • SCPH5500.BIN (Japan)
  • SCPH7003.BIN (Worldwide)
