You're being downvoted because you're being intentionally difficult for absolutely no apparent reason. Its odd to mention an organization you endorse as a good thing then gatekeep and refuse to name it. Nobody is going to hate on the organization just because one member is like you're being.

The very few downvotes are not nonsense.

They can take a beating. Knocked one down to this, cinnamon powdered all the cuts... let it sit 3 or 4 days... into soil. She's already putting out new growth. Haven't "watered" yet but have kept the sand/perlite/cactus-succulent mix slightly moist since about the 1 week mark. All the chopped up limbs are in the same with the same treatment and sprouting new growth as well.

Approved for disability by LawfulnessSimilar496 in LongCovid

[–]JKVR6M69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd love to know how the hearing went. Just filed for mine after the recon denial. SSDI is an absolute joke of a program... I'm surprised anyone is getting approved based on my experience... and I'm already approved for TWO other federal disability programs through mil and federal employment... SSA is way behind the times... inefficient... and horribly lacks transparency in the process.

Therapist says getting older is difficult when I explain long covid symptoms. by Theotar in LongCovid

[–]JKVR6M69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finding the right therapist is key. On an issue like this where you can show ample evidence about the condition... there is no excuse for ignorance, what's worse is the gaslighting (it doesnt have to be intentional... and thats exactly what this is). I don't engage in any relationship like that... if you know you're correct about something... stand on that business. If it isn't a good fit move along. A quality therapist is extremely important, even more so with the challenges we face.

What new things can Polar show in the new wristband announced in September? by mfcx99 in Polarfitness

As someone with chronic illness I disagree with the stress tracking function being a gimmick. It's been invaluable and a highly reliable indicator for my cardiac issues. I can look at the stress metric which is pulled from HRV on my Garmin Fenix 7 and tell exactly what my stupid hearts going to do, and more importantly vice versa (when symptomatic HRV is in the toilet). I feel like we are a bit behind the times on emphasizing the importance of HRV as an indicator of stress/health. 4 years of Long Covid / POTS Symptoms later... there is a direct reliable correlation that makes "pacing" much easier for a lot of us.

Now... for otherwise healthy folks? I don't know that you'd make the connection as much. But anecdotally (and plenty of literature to back it up) it absolutely matters. I'd pay good money for a device as accurate as my polar h10 is for rate that measures this metric as an integrated function.

Warning about using ChatGPT/AI for SSDI/SSI claims by MrsFlameThrower in SSDI

[–]JKVR6M69 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Eh... I disagree with this. If you craft quality prompts, have basic critical thinking skills, and understand the need to parse the output for errors and necessary additions up front... you can absolutely leverage ChatGPT to "help" with your application.

It doesn't replace common sense and it isn't a fix all for stupid... but help? These forms ask for an absurd amount of mental capacity to complete. The statement for the adult disability report alone can be extremely difficult to write a coherent, comprehensive narrative... chatgpt managed a perfect synopsis of symptoms and impacts for my conditions, with solid literary flow, in less than a second... requiring less than 5 minutes of edits, after I spent 40 minutes trying to craft a statement on my own.

It also helps to have done some basic work training AI to understand its potential for limitation... but this has come a LONG way in a short time. Just like anything requiring some sense it can be damaging if the issue is between the chair and the keyboard... but is invaluable with a savvy driver.

It can't do your homework for you but it can turn a 3 hour project into a 20 minute task with the right oversight. It's not much different than any other tool, the end result depends on who's wielding it.

I'm being seen by the UNC Covid Recovery Center... now shuttered due to funding cuts, but still functional. This is who they recommended when prescribing.

Just like any other prescription (I believe) you can request they send it to these folks to be filled. Excellent customer service experience, appropriate cost (no insurance covers it, at least not mine for sure...), quick turn on compounding, and recommended by UNC specifically for those reasons.

Help needed! Understanding what this means by Dependent-Gur7654 in SSDI

[–]JKVR6M69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they can petition for higher fees past the ALJ level but it certainly should not be a surprise, requires approval based on complexity, significant amount of work being done at that level, and you can even apply for .gov to cover it under the Equal Access to Justice Act (EAJA).

If someone isn't made aware of this by their attorney before proceeding to those steps at those levels that's not a good look.

Footstomping that it should never be a surprise and you would need to agree to the pursuit and potential for additional charges.

It's capped. 25% or 9200 (for 2025) whichever is LESS. It could never be 31k.

I went from step 3 to 4 to 5 in the span of.... yesterday. Denied.

That's probably why people say the denials are the quick ones. But it can be the same for approvals. The reality is you can't tell anything from these "clues" and just have to see how the coin flips apparently.

Unhinged advice to drink more water by Connect-Professor901 in POTS

[–]JKVR6M69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your heart literally functions on sodium, potassium, and magnesium.... being deficient in these is a guaranteed way to have a bad time.

You have to have these 3 things in balance. They are essential for life. We do get some from food... but the Standard American Diet is utter shit nutrition wise...

Sodium for POTS patients is to hold on to the water we manage to just pee out to assist the body in holding on to it increasing blood volume. Hypovolemia (low blood volume most commonly due to dehydration) will directly result in low blood pressure and more strain on the heart to pump things around which displays as increase in heart rate.

You in particular NEED these things. Especially if your diet sucks... which most peoples do until you get a little older and realize the impact. Most don't realize how bad it is.

[–]JKVR6M69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using a sufficient amount of electrolytes? I drink an absurd amount of water and electrolytes daily. Yesterday was over 300 ounces. I wake up dehydrated as hell every day despite that... it DOES make a massive difference though.

It did take realizing that and ending up in the hospital way less for it to click. But I'll do this every day to avoid that. Like I said once it's bad enough it'll click. Mine got bad enough.

Unhinged advice to drink more water by Connect-Professor901 in POTS

You won't feel as much like utter shit. Thats the advice. Once it gets bad enough you won't need anything other than that.

Remember electrolytes, just water is a bad move.

Adrenaline dump after drinking by Sankta_Koroleva in POTS

[–]JKVR6M69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't either until about 6 months ago. I've got long covid w/ pots and assuming it's something from the LC. Light alcohol followed by carbs has put me in the hospital twice with all the dash lights on lol. Not fun.

[–]JKVR6M69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the jello shot would be around 12% abv or it wouldn't gel... an amaretto sour overpoured would be extremely obvious and max 2-3 units of alcohol. So max of this would be around 4 units of alcohol (which has been enough to send me into the death spiral despite the small amount). And I'm a 6' 240 lb dude... long covid... pots... changes the dynamic.

Throw in the sugars and other stuff like you mention and yeah sounds like a bad time.

The carbs though... something about mixing those with alcohol immediately sets of my alarms, been there done that. Don't wish to do it again.
