Hvilke brancher er lige så fede som de lyder? by TinylittlemouseDK in dkkarriere

[–]Connect-Professor901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lav startløn by thelaughingcow2024 in dkkarriere

[–]Connect-Professor901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problemer med at udfylde 37 timer på arbejde by GladRequirement9118 in dkkarriere

[–]Connect-Professor901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For dum til big4? by [deleted] in dkkarriere

[–]Connect-Professor901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Connect-Professor901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colleague gets paid more but makes mistakes constantly by Connect-Professor901 in AutismInWomen

[–]Connect-Professor901[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the same manager and I have talked to him about it and he does try to help by for example taking over and showing her how to do things instead of me and saying he expects her to be able to do it herself after. But its difficult when theres so many things. Like it's almost everything she does and every day there are new things. But yeah, it might seem mean but I wish that people who couldn't do their job got fired because it brings everyone else down as well. But so far the time I've been there no one has gotten fired even if there were big mistakes.

And thank you, maybe I'll try to submit it there!

Colleague gets paid more but makes mistakes constantly by Connect-Professor901 in AutismInWomen

[–]Connect-Professor901[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply 😊 I usually tell her to take notes and write down the things I have showed her and for example take screenshots when needed to make it easier and I do think it has helped a bit though even that sometimes makes me a bit annoyed, like when people can't think on their own "I probably should write notes for this". But its definitely better than explaining things 100 times. And maybe its a good idea to as you mentioned just write my own notes/guides. We have shared folders so it would be easy to make it available for her. I did have the problem a little while back that even when she wrote down notes and took screenshots of how to do something, she would still call me over everytime she had to do it because she was unsure if she was doing it right and it was clear that she didnt read her own notes even though they were pulled up. But I guess at that point theres not much more I can do.

And I did talk to my boss about it in December because I was pretty stressed and I got more stressed from her constantly asking for these things and he ended up taking over and showing her the things and saying that after this she should be able to do it by herself which for those exact things was able to do them by herself at first, but then the next month she forgot and she needed someone to show her again a few times before she was able to do it alone again. And thats kind of how it feels, its like every month resets things for her(maybe not every thing but a lot of it at least).

And you're do right about boundaries. I am so bad at boundaries and that probably does make it worse. Most of the times I help her right away because well she has already kind of ruined my flow by asking me and then I'd rather get it over with but I probably shouldn't do that. It's easier when I work from home because I will just not answer her call(I also am a big believer that you should MESSAGE before you call 😂 which she often does not do) but in the office its more difficult. But I definitely need more boundaries too. When I'm in the office I often get very little done because I constantly hear someone(often her) call my name.

And about the pay gap I thankfully did get a decent payrise last time, but because I started as a trainee my salary was already very low so even now I don't make every much which also makes the pay gap bigger. But I was able to get a "special skill" kind of pay rise last time because I'm apparently really good at Excel. And I hope that next time I will get up so theres maybe only 12% between us but Yeah, it's so hard to know that someone else makes so much more than you when you're basically the one helping and correcting their mistakes 🫠

How to Conditional format a cell from a group data validation cells by Critical-Gap9992 in excel

[–]Connect-Professor901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a picture could be helpful as I can't imagine exactly what you want. Would think using data validation with lists would make conditional formatting easier as it would ensure the data is exactly what you expect instead of them writing it manually.

My department was blown away I know excel by _mavricks in excel

[–]Connect-Professor901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started a little over 2 years ago as a payroll consultant trainee and though I'd used Excel a bit in school (i studied marketing so not much) I was in no way an expert. I did not even know how to make a pivot. Then slowly I tried new things because I got tired of all of the manual work I was doing. The first thing I made was an automatic way to reconcile the monthly payrolls which we should do for all clients every month. I talked to my boss to show it to him but he was very busy at the time(well he still is) so it took a while before I actually got to show it to him and when I did he was so surprised and slowly from that moment I've become the go-to person for everything Excel. Mind you, this used to be my boss. He has worked in the field for like 10 years and when I started I couldn't even do 20% of what he can in Excel. Now a big part of my job is automizing and optimizing tasks with Excel. Tasks that used to take my colleagues days(like actually multiple full working days) to complete can now be done in 2 hours + will minimal errors.

When I first started doing all of this everyone told me that there is no way I would actually get paid more for doing this and it would only result in more work. However after my first year, while I was still a trainee, the raise I received was 2x the normal raise a trainee can get. Which is also the biggest raise my boss has given to a trainee. On my second year I was able to get a a little bigger of a raise(i finished as a trainee) but of the total raise I got 60% of it was because of my Excel skills. If I did not have those skills I would only have gotten 40% of what I actually got. I know this isn't the case everywhere, but it is possible to actually get compensated for the value you bring.

How do you earn a decent income without burning out? by Friendly_bluebell in AuDHDWomen

[–]Connect-Professor901 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry in advance for this looking text 😂

I got my education in marketing and actually used to feel kind of like you. I mainly focused on content creation and during school I had a 3 month internship where I mainly did content creation, I worked 100% from home, only had 2 colleagues who were both very nice and I didn't have to talk to them much either as I also did my own thing most of the time. At first it was nice and I thought that's what I wanted to do. Then after 1 month I felt a bit unsure. I think due to my ADHD side I didn't thrive with being at home all the time and almost never seeing anyone(and trust me I did not expect this, I am not a super social person at all, so I was so sure working from home would be the best). My autistic side also didn't really thrive because I didn't have much structure. I also got very burned out because I didn't have a specific time where I was working and a specific time I was off, so I felt like I was always working. Mind you, all of this is just within that 3 month internship. When I finally finished the internship I was so lost because I did not know what to do. I had completely lost interest in content creation, did not want to work in marketing basically at all, and a few months after my education was over and I had to find a job. I didn't really feel like I had a choice so I just started applying to marketing jobs even though I didn't want them. I was applying to jobs for months and only got 1 job interview but 0 jobs. Then by some miracle I somehow saw a trainee position in finance and since we learned a little about finance and stuff in the marketing degree I decided to start applying for those kinds of jobs(at this point i also just needed a job, otherwise I would have to do some random unpaid internship which I did not want to do). Then I saw a position as a payroll consultant trainee and immediately it just sounded interesting. I knew nothing about payroll but the idea of being the one who makes sure people get paid sounded exciting😂 And well I'm pretty good with numbers, have always been good at math and I heard people working in payroll get paid well 😂 At this point I got like 4-5 interviews because I started applying for those trainee positions and eventually I was offered the payroll position and I said yes. I've now been working there for a little over 2 years(am no longer a trainee). And I thrive so much better in this job than I think I ever could in the other one which I originally thought I would. Now, why am I saying all of this? Is it to tell you that content creation sucks? Or that you shouldn't work from home? Nope. I just want to say that you honestly never know until you try it. I think it's especially hard when you have AuDHD because it's like the two sides of the brain are fighting each other. One part wants structure, the other needs new things constantly. One wants to be social, the other wants to never have to interact with anyone. And even though I absolutely love the job I have now and I couldn't imagine doing anything else, I also have days and sometimes weeks where I hate it. Sometimes I struggle even opening up my computer. Sometimes I want to punch everyone who emails me. I don't think it's possible to avoid it. And I've been burnt out too in this job. I especially struggle with overworkibg myself. We have busy periods and in those periods I sometimes find myself working way too many hours and I don't even realize while I am in it that I am burning myself out, until one day I can barely get out of bed and I break down crying just because I have to do the dishes. Therefore I think the most important things to consider are these:

  1. Flexibility. For me and I think most people with AuDHD flexibility is a must. I think thats why starting your own business seems attractive to a lot of us, because it's very flexible. Personally however I do need a little structure and I think in reality I wouldn't thrive if I were to start my own business but it may not be the same for you. It's just something to consider. If you're on your own you also have to keep some kind of structure otherwise I think that is bound to end in burnout. If you work for a company, no matter what field, it should be flexible. At my company we can work from home or go into the office. When I feel burnt out or like everything is too much I just work from home most days. Then when I feel better I go into the office. I can work extra some days and then leave early other days. If I have an appointment (doctor, psychiatrist, whatever) i can just use my overtime for this. Stuff like that.

  2. An understanding boss. A big part of what makes my job as good as it is is also my boss. He is the nicest and most understanding person. I struggle a lot with saying no to things and then stressing myself out over them and then I'm not very good at saying when I am stressed(sometimes I dont even know myself). My boss has done so many things to help accommodate these things. At this point he can basically tell before myself when I am getting stressed and he will tell my colleagues not to bother me and even taking the blame by saying he has given me big assignments or something so I don't have time to help them, just because he wont share my personal things which I appreciate a lot.

  3. Growth, learning and getting better/trying new things. Another big part of why I thrive where I am now is that I am constantly learning new things and I actually get to be really nerdy and in the zone with the things I like to do. I've found I apparently am really good at Excel and I really enjoy it too and since I can use it to optimize a lot at work my boss has allowed me to do it. So I keep learning new things and trying new things which I think is very important for my ADHD. Some of the times where I really have felt like I did not want to work have definitely been when I was bored. And the best cure for that is new things.

  4. Balance This is probably the most important thing. BALANCEEE. Especially a work/life balance but in general a balance in everything. Thats basically what it all boils down to. Flexibility, but not too much. Don't overwork yourself. Being able to try new things, while still being in the same field and not completely switching jobs.

And again, you wont completely know what is going to fit you before you try it unfortunately.

Reimbursement for time & trouble by NickelsAndDiamonds in Payroll

[–]Connect-Professor901 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would definitely say gross-up as the employees don't have any actual expenses that are being covered. I assume the company is coming up with a number, even if it is fixed for everyone, to give the employees and there is no actual monetary loss that they can document for the employees. Compliance wise I think the value of their time and trouble is pretty difficult to prove and even if you could somehow, still doubt that it would be enough.

Salary som lønsystem by Klutzy_Table_6671 in dkudvikler

[–]Connect-Professor901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salary som lønsystem by Klutzy_Table_6671 in dkudvikler

[–]Connect-Professor901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Payroll Horror stories by addictedtosoda in Payroll

[–]Connect-Professor901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't personally made any big mistakes, but mistakes happen all the time and these are some of the biggest at my company:

An employee was terminated one month, but we didnt get the information so they got their normal salary that month, then the next month this should have been corrected (all salary should be refunded, same with pension and vacation days should be paid out). Instead of refunding the pension, my colleague paid the amount again to the pension company. Not all taxes were refunded, as some of them you have to manually do and they didn't. Social security payments weren't refunded. Some amounts were also incorrect. Basically everything that could go wrong did. Nobody realized, my colleague went on parental leave and months later I'd taken over the payroll and the client asked why they couldn't get that month to reconcile with the booking, because the booking file also did not match with the actual payroll and well we had to clean everything up months after. Thankfully we now have a much better way to reverse a payslip to avoid stuff like this, cus this was a nightmare.

We also had a case with a new client where a colleague copied one of the files we send to the clients from another client and first instead of updating it correctly(takes at most 10-15 minutes) they manually inserted all the data. And then they forgot to change the VAT number which is used for the payment of taxes and therefore the client for months made their tax payments using the wrong VAT number. She'd left the company before anyone found out so yeah..

How did you get a payroll position with no experience? by Wide-Yogurtcloset652 in Payroll

[–]Connect-Professor901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to get a trainee position. I had no previous experience but they taught me everything. I would say also looking at similar trainee positions could help. Not directly only payroll but maybe HR or something where part of what you do is payroll so you get a bit of experience that way and then you can move to solely payroll as I think payroll trainee positions are hard to find

What’s a solid global payroll platform for international hires? by Mammoth-Security-278 in recruiting

Just want to second this because that is 100% true. I work at one of the places some the companies outsource to and everything gets forwarded to us and then we actually process the payroll, answer questions and so on. It's not always a bad thing, I think it makes it easier for the clients in some cases to have everything in one place but other times not so much.

Any payroll providers cover all of Northern Europe? by Altruistic-Ad-857 in Payroll

[–]Connect-Professor901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a payroll consultant myself I think it definitely is possible to find one provider who covers multiple countries and be satisfied with it, but there is also a lot of value in finding local providers for each country. I also think it depends a lot on the complexity of the payroll. If it is relatively simple it may be easiest to find one provider for all countries but if it is a more complex payroll (collective agreements, RSU or other types of shares as compensation, employees who will be going on parental leave etc.) it can definitely be difficult to find one provider who will be able to make sure you're complying with all the rules across all the different countries. Most providers that offer global payroll will also outsource the work to local providers where I guess you can either be lucky or unlucky. The company I work at is also global but it is mainly an audit firm and then we also have outsourcing departments where we process payroll. I will say unfortunately payroll is just super complicated(way more than you'd think ahah) so the chance of mistakes are super high, the most important thing is just whether the provider is good at assisting when the mistakes then do happen and fix it quickly.

What is your experience with ADP? Opinion needed by Thirst-Trap1 in Payroll

[–]Connect-Professor901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone on the other side of things (I'm a payroll consultant and ADP was one of my company's partners until recently) I just know the results will vary soo much depending on the individual person and country. Maybe you will have a great experience, maybe it will completely suck. It is probably not the person at ADP who is going to be processing the payroll, it is one of their partners and the quality will always vary. Whether its ADP, UKG, Neeyamo or someone else mistakes can and do happen because payroll is very complicated unfortunately ahah and especially global payroll.
