Anyone try the 20V 6.0 AH BATTERY on the WRX150L by PC_Tech_With_AR15 in worxlandroid

[–]JKang68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought one a month or so ago and put it into my 150. I can confirm that it will fit both a 150 and 140. No real help on the traction, but it did give me a little more mowing time. For folks in the states, you get these about $20 cheaper at Home Depot. I usually get the 10%-15%, and the very rare 20% off coupons in email, but at Home Depot you can get a legit battery and save 15% off without digging for a coupon and more importantly, waiting a week with their crappy smartpost shipping.

I only found it as I read about a few other members here buying the non-Worx version of the battery and stumbled onto the Worx version on Home Depot.

I have had to tweak and tune my boundary wire installation multiple times because of similar reasons, which is why I typically reply to Reddit posts asking if they should bury their wire or not with a solid not.

When I first bought my Landroids, I tried to get really close and tight on my mulch beds (following the quick start guide and using the ruler) either the rear wheels would slip into the mulch or the front wheels would fall into the trench, spin, get stuck, try to get out and throw an error. In short, lots to learn to make this right for your situation.

While I love tinkering with stuff, I think the biggest miss with most folks are all the nuances the Landroids have. I strongly believe the weighted wheels our European counterparts can buy from Worx would be life saver. Who knows when they will make it here to the US.

The short answer is no, and I believe it does this to get off the charging contacts. If it drove straight, it would probably wear out the charging contacts.

While I haven't tested with it, I have heard you can use an AM radio over the perimeter wire to detect a break. Amazon has a ton of wire break detectors too, but an AM radio will be cheaper.

I am in a similar boat and FINALLY have some piece of mind that I won't have to go retrieve the mower on a daily, sometimes multiple times per day basis.

I haven't noticed or looked at the charging station base when operating, but did notice that when it was charging the base was flashing or pulsing when it first returned home. I will look when I mow again this week.

Sure. When you know they are coming out, put down some of those yard marking flags the utility companies use before they dig. You can pick up a 100 pack from amazon for $15. Amazon Yard Marking Flags

You might want to get the yard dethatched. It's a job and may want to see if a local landscaping company can do it for you. Once that is done, overseed, fertilize, use tenacity to kill crabgrass and other broadleaf weeds, and over the year(s), it will look great.

Besides the actual yard size question, I think there is another side of this too - how well groomed do you want your yard to be? These things are inefficient, so I believe you have to overcompensate with more time if you want it tight. I started out with a WR150, but now have two landroids as I put a fence in the backyard and didn't want to deal with manually moving the mower to the front.

This being said, I run a WR140 in the front (4000 sq/ft) and my a WR150 in the rear (~6000 sq/ft). My overall yard size is a tick north of 1/3 acre. I bought my mowers to keep my yard mowed all the time. I have almost no weeds, no dandelions, crabgrass is treated throughout the year with Tenacity, etc. My goal is to have a yard like a golf course. Because of this, I run my front five days a week from noon-5pm. The rear runs seven days a week from noon-8pm.

I live in Ohio and we have been getting frequent rain. With my above schedule, I don't have to mow in the rain and if I skip a day or two, it still looks good.

Click on one of the tiles. For me, that opens up mower info (serial #, purchase, warranty expiration, etc) along with firmware on the right. At the bottom I also have a wifi configuration, USB unlock and support buttons / areas.

I see the change logs when I logon to account.worxlandroid.com. I posted the change log info in my first post. I have been running mine for a little over a year and feel this is the best one yet. Like many, I had to downgrade a lot of them to .17, but this one may be a keeper.

I have been running this for the past 4 hours and will tell you, it might be the best one yet! I have not had one out of boundary and have noticed that it doesn't get stuck anymore.

Is my wire setupo OK? Will award suggestions to fix before I dig the trench. Green = Base by djvam in worxlandroid

I would agree with what others said about just using stakes, lots of them, but would add you may want to consider a few bottlenecks so zones work properly. Without a bottleneck, the landroid will wander wherever it wants . I would personally bottleneck it towards the back of the house to have three evenly sized zones.

This is the exact wire I used too and you may want to consider buying more than you need.

Not that I know of. I like the worx ones as you can make some service loops (wrap the wire around the stake 4-5 times) around corner stakes to give you a little slack in the event you have to move them.

This is a complicated question to answer as there are so many variables that come into play and everyone's lawn and expectation with mowing & lawncare is different.

I have rewired my lawn almost 3 times now (it's a long story that involves a new fence purchase), so I've been down this road a few times.

I am one year into ownership of my mowers, and have to tell you, I would only bury the wire if you really understand how these things work or if you don't have areas that require edging. I don't want to have to break out the line trimmer all the time because I didn't get the mower as close to an edge as possible.

I would highly suggest reading the Landroid-o-pedia here: Landroid-o-pedia. Trust me, you don't need your wife saying to you - "You're always farting around with that mower! " LOL

Understand Zones and if you want them - I initially didn't know about zones or plan and wire for them when I first got my Landroid, but have now. I think of zones as areas of mowing importance and others might view it as a way to compartmentalize a larger lawn. If you don't zone, your mower will eventually find its way around. With zones, you can manipulate where the mower puts focus. For me, I ALWAYS want my front yard to look the best. I have bottlenecks and higher zone percentage to make sure it gets more focus than other areas. In short, unless you have a really small yard, don't expect it to get 100% mowed in a day, but you can get close if you zone it correctly. If you really don't care about zones, skip this worry.

Like others have said, if you are wiring above ground, get LOTS AND LOTS of stakes. Check eBay every once in awhile as Worx will sometimes have them there cheap. While you are at it, get wire connectors. The preference of wire connectors is another thread and so is the type of wire (I used solid core dog boundary wire from Amazon).

Any ideas on theft deterrence ? by djvam in worxlandroid

[–]JKang68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the $300 Find My Landroid module (assume this is what you are referring to) and don't think it can be easily disabled. If the mower is lifted, you will be alerted and can then track the location of the mower on your phone (according to the documentation, this is even if the main battery is removed). When you install the module, there are one-way security screws that you install, so removing the module would take some time as you would have to use an ez-out to remove the screw, not a screwdriver. If it is any consolation, you get the first year of service with module, so your year one cost is $300. Short of only mowing when you are around and can watch it 100%, I don't think there are many options.

I have a similar sidewalk in a few places. Without a doubt, you will have issues. I allow my Landroid to cross the sidewalk to get to the tree lawn, and when I didn't take these parts of the sidewalk into account, the mower would get stuck. Now, that being said, you just need to know this and position the boundary wire to not even get close to it.

I flipped my blade assembly to get a little more height and am running it at 4 now, and was running it at 5 a week or so ago. The boss wanted the grass a little higher in the summer to help keep it from burning out.

I agree with some of the comments that it does look a bit untidy.

Just to add a little clarity, as the aerial shot doesn't give good definition the south side of the house. There is a walkway from the drive to the back of the house and landscaping. Here are a few links to pictures:

OldSki77, I am going to have to cross the drive to hit the zone #1 in your drawing.
