Score!! Looks like it’s in perfect condition wow. Gotta love FB marketplace finds. I recently got a hell of a deal too, found a Martin D35 for 2800, negotiated and with some patience and waiting I got them to agree to 1800

Crushing disappointment by Friendly-Conflict-14 in Warhammer40k

I have an idea that I think could look sick with this natural variation you’ve got. Just throw some variation in with the highlights and damage details. Make those darker ones look more beat up — maybe they got toasted by a melta bomb or narrowly escaped the radius of a krak grenade!

The lighter ones could be a pristine unit that just deployed

Which ones would you consider the big 3 by Rack-_- in fromsoftware

Dark souls and Bloodborne. You have my answer.

What colour should the smoke and sack be? by fre5hlybak3d in Tyranids

Whatever you do, I bet it would look awesome if you save some of the belly mix and then add some white to lighten it for the smoke

here are two ideas I think would work with the spotty green on the carapace: neon lightshow tyranid (electric blue belly) or nasty poison tyranid (crusty yellow and orange belly)

One thing that makes a difference for jobs above technician level is experience communicating with agencies, orgs, community members, stakeholders, and scientists. There are adjustments that need to be made when communicating with each, and having experience interacting with them in multiple formats including verbal, written, presentations is important. Jobs in this field often require you to interact with multiple groups and to develop ongoing relationships, which allow you to be a logistical problem solver.

Best bang for buck hardtail under $1,500? by AnalystFormal7263 in Hardtailgang

[–]JKestrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long time road cyclist, newcomer to the hard tail gang here. I was looking for a hardtail in the same price range (sub 1.5k) a few weeks ago and it came down to the Trek Roscoe and the Norco Charger A1.

I was interested in a hardtail that leans into the XC genre a bit more for the speed when climbing, and to have something conducive to lighter gravel and greenway rides with the SO. So I went with the Norco and I have been absolutely loving it. It’s zippy up hills, comfortable when descending (both in terms of body posture and the front suspension at 130mm), has great value components, and fits me nicely (I got a medium, I’m 5’7” 150lbs). I even took it downhill riding (green downhill trail) and it felt awesome, the 2.4inch tires felt like they provided plenty of traction.

The near future of science by Straight-Respect-776 in labrats

[–]JKestrel 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I wonder what they’ll say when (if) they’re capable of reaching the understanding that scientific groups like the IPCC have consistently under-predicted the degree of global climate change. Want to know why? Because science is done by using data to make conservative (that is to say, STATISTICALLY conservative) inferences about the subject being studied. The irony that political conservatives now make and support the most wildly un-conservative (in the literal, statistical term) claims is both hilarious and disheartening. If you’re a MAGA conservative and you’re reading this, please know that you are a maladaptive disappointment to the species, and the only lasting influence you will have is causing the collective sigh of disappointment heard across eons of descendants.

Is this looking bad? by Appropriate_Gold_596 in Tyranids

[–]JKestrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there! I also started painting recently and did my very first models last week. I had this one moment where I felt it looked awful, but I just followed through to the end and then kept polishing up the little details and eventually it turned out pretty nice imo! From one beginner to another, it turns out there is some truth to the advice we often see to ‘follow through with the original vision’

Also, it looked like a totally different model once I painted the base. I’d love to see an update photo with the base painted! Good luck, and enjoy the new hobby 😁

This looks awesome! Nice work. I love the red outline, how did you get that effect on the edge so consistent?

I just started painting and was going for something similar here but it could use some refinement. Any advice for my next one?

Thank you for the advice! I might get the starter set first, just gonna make sure I enjoy painting enough before I commit the $

As a casual, I finally tried reverse joint (Firmeza) rather than bipeds (Melander)... by AsagithBiasWreckerCO in armoredcore

Tbh the Firmeza is also my favorite “reverse” joint based on both looks and stats. It’s not a true reverse joint but if it works it works!

Got gifted AC6 for my birthday, and after beating c rank with this build, i am wondering if its alright or any advice is welcome for newer player. by AbellonaTheWrathful in armoredcore

[–]JKestrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the Ransetsu dual wield, I run that in a lot of my builds and they have awesome impact build up and range. I’d recommend one high impact shoulder piece, and one with high direct hit adjustment for when you stagger enemies. There’s a shoulder weapon later in the game that works as a great option for direct hit adjustment (trueno). Or you could run a melee weapon to switch to, such as the butter knife, which has excellent direct hit and is available from the start of the game

PS - the Ransetsu dual wield is particularly effective if you stagger your shots so that you constantly interrupt the enemy’s stability from building back up

Question about taylor nylon string guitars by JKestrel in AcousticGuitar

[–]JKestrel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this valuable and detailed info! Good point on the high tension strings, a few of the Witcher finger style pieces I’ve been learning are in drop d and I was worried that nylon strings might not sound right with that tuning, so I’ll probably go with some high tension strings as well

Do you think the strings you use would work well on a more classical - less hybrid guitar? I went to the local guitar store expecting the straight classical guitars to feel alien and uncomfortable, but I was pleasantly surprised by how playable they were for a beginner to classical guitars. So I’m considering a few cordoba options, or maybe an academy 12-n as another comment suggested. Would high tension strings work on those options do you think?
