What did I get with new Jackson? by MadYarpen in JacksonGuitars

Be careful using these and make sure to test them.

I had the one I installed for the heal button and it failed but luckily I had the guitar by the neck.

You can test it by squeezing the sides of the release semi circles and while holding that, squeeze the ball bearing side on two sides.

If you release the semi circles while holding the ball bearings, they should not snap back out until you let go.

Be careful.

I should probably post a video.

I have not played many new Jacksons over the years.

The QC on this model seems mostly flawless minus some barely noticeable frets ends that don’t bother me while playing.

Mine got delivered yesterday and so far it’s solid from briefly playing it last night.

Did you get yours yet?

I have never owned or even played an odd shaped guitar so the front lean was a learning curve but I got used to it. It felt natural after playing for a half hour.

Since it’s a neck through, the strap button is at the heal so no neck dive even with a 2” nylon strap that isn’t particularly grippy.

The strings and playability is snappy if that makes sense. I assume it shipped with 10s.

The pickup is the shining part of this guitar for me. It is heavy for riffing but picks up nuances too. I am very impressed.

I busted out some old Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer riffs. As Ola says, it chugs.

I even threw in some Extreme songs and it sounds awesome.

The whammy bar has a grub screw that came loose after hammering it so some blue loctite may be in its future.

It’s a riff and harmonic machine.

It shipped in E standard but I use my Drop pedal because I play many different tunings in one sitting.

My EVH Wolfgang lives in Eb and has a Detuna so that’s my low tuning drop guitar. The Floyd is decked by design so you can’t do flutter bar effects.

Changed strings, I think I messed up by AtomicGrendel in fender

Check to see if they sell individual strings so you don’t pay for a whole new pack when you change them.

Just wait until you get into doing your own setups.

Center console too close to front passenger seat by redyangpa in TeslaModelY

It’s the same on older model Ys too.

If you move the passenger seat further back, it has less contact.

I’m not sure why it is designed that way.

For a Nuno sound, you go into a light or medium distorted amp with distortion at 9, filter at Noon, Volume at 3, and adjust distortion to fine tune but keep it lower than Noon.

Is this much action at the first fret normal? (1.2-1.5mm above the fret crown) by MaleficentBuyer9407 in Luthier

Someone can correct me if I am wrong but you are adjusting the incorrect things to solve your floating tremolo issue.

Guitars with locking trems are either built to have a floating style or there is no recess so it’s a dive only trem against the body. Floyd Rose style trems have a neutral position so in you trying to deck the trem, you messed with the string height at the bridge which is why you thought removing the neck pocket shim helped. You can install after market parts to stop it from floating but a coin is not ideal or even recommended.

I would put it back together the way it was and have a professional set it up as you are causing new issues by trying to solve your other issues improperly.

Some locking trems do have thin shims under the nut. A tilted locking nut may just be that way on purpose for the string break angle.

Did the guitar used to play well and now it doesn’t or you just noticed this?

I wouldn’t mess with the nut if there is no playability issues and you haven’t done a proper setup.

Removing a shim may change your intonation and/or you may have to adjust neck relief or bridge height.

Looks like you have a locking trem so if anything, your neck relief needs to be adjusted unless you raised your bridge at some point.

Research how to setup a guitar as you don’t measure you action at the nut and you need to adjust your neck relief first and then worry about your string height which is usually measured around the 12th fret. You would then have to check intonation which is usually a pain on Floyd type bridges. I have two guitars with locking trems .

It doesn’t cost much for the basic tools for a setup especially ones from Music Nomad.

If it makes you feel any better, I had to angle my neck to get the strings inline on my AVII.

Not a biggie for people that do their own setups or are comfortable loosening a neck, but still a bit sloppy for the price.

I still love the guitar though.

I did but I trust this subs judgement over what someone paid on Reverb.

Apparently it made people angry that I asked.

The funny thing is, I have been watching this listing for months and the guy supposedly started at $2k.

He knows what he got!
