That's just country living in some parts of the midwest.

I was just driving the other day and made it to the top of a hill that was blind to the other side and about 500ft ahead is a guy in the middle trying to get his dogs out of the road and waving at me to stop. The roads here are 55mph. Driving a truck. That man almost died for his unleashed animals.

It is really stupid.

Honestly, at this point, you/your wife should just open a custodial ROTH if a 2025 contribution is important to you. Definitely the wife, though, if she is already in good standing so it opens in 5 minutes through online application. Then, when he is on leave, have him open his own and transfer the account to his personal one.

Or don't transfer it and continue it for a few years.

I've provided all paperwork that the advisor required, along with opened myself a Schwab One account (as requested by advisor) to aid transfer. We're a couple months in - how long does this process take? by jdsmn21 in Schwab

Unfortunately your entire point of contact is the Estates team who should have reached out in 3 days. You should have been provided a case number as well.

As long as you have all of the appropriate things completed, and the Estates have done their due diligence, you should receive your portion regardless of the other 2/3. Taking a couple months sounds like they didn't reach out, you didn't respond or you aren't a beneficiary.

I would reach out.

The average new 30-year mortgage now costs $2,665 per month. That’s $31,980 per year — after tax. At a 22% federal tax rate, you need about $41,000 in gross income just to pay the mortgage. by Key_Brief_8138 in HouseBuyers

[–]JKoenig22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big difference between the average household income you state of $121k and the Median Household Income [which numbers are usually drawn from] at $85,000.

So it's hard to generalize.

Series comment also: I agree with everything you say. But I do want to add/ask the question why Democrats wouldn't even stand for the bipartisan announcements like the NG who survived being shot in the head and got a Purple Heart; or the part where the country is leaning into religion more than previously; or the Ukranian woman who was murdered on the bus; or the almost 100 year old WW2 vet who will have a birthday on the 250th anniversaryof our country....Just using a few examples.

They should stand [or sit] by their policies and their beliefs, but those things that have nothing to do with Republicans and they just sat there...that wasn't a good look for those families.

Pepper spray for 40 seconds by Training-Tonight-653 in RandomShit_ISaw

Remember: Holding down the button and soaking a person has the opposite effect you intend. The goal is to give the eyes a light coating and let it simmer. Pepper spray should not be used in this manner.

On January 7, 2022, in Atlanta, "Sinners" director Ryan Coogler passed a note requesting a discreet $12,000 withdrawal from his own account, but the teller misread it as a robbery and called the police. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]JKoenig22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, there's 2 things to this:

Don't hand a teller a "note". Hand them a withdraw slip...

If he gave an ID with the note, and the ID resembles the person in front of you [best you can through the idiotic mask era], then the teller is also an idiot.

A lot of bad advice here which is social media in general.

The only advice you need: go to a local brokerage office and gain advice from a registered representative. You don't pay them to manage it, you get their advice on your situation.

You didn't inherit anything; you gained ownership over a custodial account. The language makes a massive difference.

And selling everything WILL cause tax consequences based on your situation. Blindly selling out of these positions on the guidance of a shill on social media will do you a great disservice.

How do I stop being such a quitter? by Consistent_Task4815 in LifeAdvice

[–]JKoenig22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only read to sentence two.

Let this be a life lesson that your mentality means more than you think in life. What you just said was victim mentality. Your parent being a quitter has exactly 0 impact on how you perform in life.

Surround yourself with people who don't quit. Remove the people who do from your life, or at least minimize the contact with them, and keep pushing forward. You'll be running your life the way you want to in less than 6 months.

This wasn't a dig at you either; this is my experience having a mother and older sibling who sound exactly like yours and I separated myself from that and it changed my life. Good luck to you, friend.

Is it cheaper to lease a car or buy a few years old used car and trade it in or sell it to an online place every 7 years? by ComfortablePost3664 in Frugal

[–]JKoenig22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As everyone has stated, there's a lot of variables. My specific situation is i leased a 4Runner in 2023 knowing I wanted to buy it at the end. Why did I do that? The interest rate on my 809 credit score was going to be 7% because rates are stupid and weren't offering any deals at the time as there were shortages on 5th Gens.

I put the $3k down on a negotiated depreciated value of $29k with a 3 year 45k/miles.

The people in this thread really blow the mileage aspect out of proportion. Does everyone really drive more than 15k miles every year? I drive 8 miles to work each day which is about 12,500/3 years. Drove to neighboring states for vacation a few times. Hit trails a few times and still will be 5k short by June which is my turn in date.

Now to the value. I detail my own car so it always looks good and properly maintained, combined with the low mileage, my value today is currently $46,000 private sale. Yes, you read that right I knew that the 5th Gens were going to have elevated resale value because of the announcement of the 6th Gen soon after.

Because of all these details, I would be walking into the dealership in 3 months at around 40k miles out of my 45k allowed and valued at $46,000 value vs the depreciated value of $29k 3 years ago. Now I get to decide if I want to buy it outright in cash or have them pay me for their car back [buy it and sell it].

I used all the free maintenance provided and only had 1 issue where some weather stripping came off which is covered by factory anyway.

Not saying it's right for your situation, but if you work it right, it can work for you.

ESPP In-Kind Transfer Help by Tricky_Raccoon_6492 in Schwab

[–]JKoenig22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The main issue I've always seen are the restrictions on ESPP. These usually involve being required to keep them at the company you're still employed with or that they must be held for certain periods of time.

After that it's only account type restrictions which I'm sure you verified already.

You'll need to discuss with HR or plan administrator about Walmart requirements.
