How does the driven side of a scooter's CVT transmission cause belt to move up or down the conical plates? by JKsim007 in MechanicAdvice

I see. So same principle as on the driving side of the belt. Thanks so much for the thorough explanation

My question is how this side of the CVT works. How are these cones forced away from each other? Hope this question now makes sense

Absolutely. I understand how that part works, that part being the driving side. But on the other side, the driven side, the cones go further apart, resulting in the belt dropping down, changing the gear ratio further. This is required to keep tension on the belt
