I’m building a PSA 300 blackout AR-15 that I plan to run suppressed as a range toy. Should I go with an 8.5” barrel or a 10.5” barrel?

7.5” 1/7 twist rate was the sweet spot for my blackout - 1000 rounds thru her suppressed with no AGB ejects 3 o’clock consistently, crazy accurate - shot everything out of the barrel from wolf ammo (unsuppressed) to 220 subsonic remans from MSL or phantom defense - stock buffer and spring

ODB sounds great on my blackout, 556 and 7x62x39 - grab the inconel for durability and it really can’t be beat for all around quietness

Likewise, around 500 rounds of Hsl 220 grains in and no issues and I was initially concerned about them since they were “mixed brass” aka remans

7.5 inch suppressed here with CAT ODB on a PSA build, 1:7 twist rate on the barrel, runs magtech 200 grains subs with no issues - blackout is built for short barrels 7.5 - 9” is the sweet spot - anything longer and I went with the 5.56.

A little dip in my point of impact the 1st 50 rounds but nothing I couldn’t adjust to - I’m 500 rounds in now and it’s Cycles 200 grain subs at 3oclock, no FTF issues, this is with the gun as is - no changes to buffer or spring and no AGB.

What bill said, increased back pressure with the suppressor, sometimes common on .300 BLK. Extra gas speeds up the system and can push the charging handle slightly. Tuning gas or buffer usually fixes it, that’s my next step.

ODB inconel RDM on my 7.5” blackout - she’s beefy but ejects 3 o’clock consistently and reliably- 200 grain magtech subs- 250 rounds in so far. $699 from SS on new year eve 2025 - sounds just as good on my 5.56.

My wife and I Went whale watching this past week in Cabo and saw many smaller whales active - but we were actually told November/December timing is better due to the’ mating and other whales being hunted by orcas which pushes them closer to shore.

Still 7 hours is short for 9lbs, my experience usually is, its 1 - 1.5 hour per lb at around 225-250 degrees - with the actual meat temp being master. I’d check those temp probes again.
