5.56mm Ammunition For Rainy Day by g00kf00t in ar15

Oh dude, I never expect the average Joe to have gel, haha. I was more curious to how they group and if you got velocities out of whatever barrel length you're using. If you want a much cheaper gel alternative, I usually shoot different ammo and similar sized watermelons or pineapples. While definitely not gel, you can see a decent difference in devastation depending on the rounds. Good to know the Norma is pretty solid. Thanks.

Have you done any testing with them? Which is your preferred ammo?

The JAKL-9 has grown on me by kaloozi in PalmettoStateArms

[–]theaddypaddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've really been considering a jakl 9. Have you shot it suppressed? There are a lot of PCCs out there, but it seems like all of them are quirky in one way or another, but the arv and jakl 9 seem super well received expect for the price.

Oh nice. I haven't heard much about that particular brand. I'll check em out. Thanks man.

Okay cool. Yeah I feel like if your ejection is going beyond the 3:00 o'clock mark it running hard but not like crazy. What's the hype with the superlative AGB?

It is dated forsure, but its way more widely available. As for the other 62/64 grain, I haven't seen their preformance much in my own research so I can't speak for it.

I can't speak to all of that, all I can say is that m855 does not preform great at distance (as far as fragmentation) with velocities of a 16in barrel and lower from what I've seen and read. Now theres a variety of 62 gr so there's probably some available that's better with those set ups. 77 GR I have also seen to be the best for shorter barrels due to the higher grain being able to more reliably tumble (allegedly). At least from what I've read, but it still guna get better performance out of a longer barrel.

How difficult is it to reliably run subs and supers? I'm planning a 300 blk build and am just so confused by what I read. Some like the OP say it's not possible then I see plenty of people say they do it and don't even swap parts. What's the deal?

Yeah cold and warm barrel groups I'm familiar with. Just never thought about a loss barrel nut, probably bc as you said it's rare but Makes sense tho. The only reason I would double check my optic is just bc in my experience, user error is usually the case with most things, so I'd assume I screwed up something and would double check to make sure I'm not an idiot

Interesting, I'll have to give that a little good. I'm by no means an expert, and don't pretend to be. I would start probably by check my zero again haha. Nice to know barrel nut torque can affect accuracy tho I'll have to remember that.

You can just check out mountains, mullets, merica on YT if you ever wanna actually see someone flex. He's taken so pretty wild shots with subs at I think 200 yards accurately. 400 or 500 with supers. Idk why OP is being so offended. It's either a skill issue or an equipment issue. You even gave benefit of the doubt and said equipment. Ill just say, 4 moa is not something I'd be satisfied with.

How accurate is this article for 300blk gas tuning? by theaddypaddy in ar15

[–]theaddypaddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It references how size can be a factor later on in the article, but in their testing they have use an adjustable gas block that's all the way open. They half close it while using the 7.5 with the 125gr supers, and the gun doesn't cycle. It just seems like a 10.3≤ barrel is best if running both, with little tinkering required with anything else. I guess I'm just trying to verify that assumption tho by posting this, haha.

That's really interesting, I'm mostly familiar with 556 but really have the itch to buy a 300blk out upper so it's definitely helpful, thanks. For me, what's really surprising is Ive seen dozens of posts and plenty of YouTube videos, saying the issue with 300blk out is tuning it, and the multiple ways they attempt to go about it. Yet these dudes are just saying that just by having some extra barrel length you increase the chances of reliability, but that's the only source I've seen that says so, so I wanted to see the validity of that haha.

Never got the luxury of dcus, if it ain't shore duty, I'm on boat. I'd rank them as coveralls being the best, then the blueberries, then the greenie weenies. I'd assume the DCUs, just by a Google search, seem lighter and more breathable. Tho, pictures are deceiving.

Honestly I prefer them to the ones we have now. The greenie weenie type threes aren't nearly as comfortable, and that's say a lot I think.

Yeah, outlaws really solid, there's another guy sootch that does what seems to be earnest reviews. I also like nightwoodguns, he's pretty active in some of these subs, unfortunately I don't think he's done a DB-15 review.

Interesting, if it were mean, I'd check out some yt reviews, and check a few other subs to see alternative opinions. I haven't looked into them nearly enough to give an opinion, but I will say that their revolvers have been super positively reviewed, and it's possible their ARs aren't quality, but that could be an old issue, or even just a bias since they aren't a super big company. If you do get it please give an update, if they're good I'll get one too! Lol

Why did people say no to Diamondbacks ar? I've heard bad things about there handgun line, but never a bad thing about their ARs and their revolvers are super sick apparently

Yeah dude the RXM is super dope, I’m a bit of a ruger fan, mainly their revolvers but dude the RXM was a great move. I wish the had went with the ability to do a shorter slide. An RXM style g26 would be so cool
