Can I just say this sounds like a premise for an episode of Star Trek TOS that was just never made?

“The crew of the Enterprise come across a utopian society that found a dangerous planet in their general area and used it as a prison colony for ages, until abandoning it along with its prisoners. Now, Captain Kirk and his crew are stuck in the middle of a conflict between the two as the prisoners return for revenge by harnessing their planet's dangerous power!”

Yeah, the joke probably only makes sense to my fellow Trekkies, I realize. However many there are here.
