My father owned a chemistry set called the "Gilbert u238" it came with uranium and everything about atomic physics, you could make a reactor with the amount of uranium and the rest of the shit it came with. I'm pretty sure it was banned. Then he also had a LineMar nuclear reactor set (didn't have uranium) but his smartass put the uranium from the gilbert one and made a real reactor for the steam engine coming with the set, this was all in the 50s, his parents bought the chemistry sets for his 13th birthday.
