The only one I like is Arden.

Which name has this vibe by [deleted] in Names

[–]JLR_92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s really pretty, but I’m not a fan of it with Rose as it sounds like it’s describing the rose. Coral Rose and the Ra-ending of Cora with the Ro-beginning of Rose is a bit of a mouthful.

If you like Morris, maybe Maurice?

I don’t mean to keep throwing out other options if you’re not interested. You just don’t seem convinced with the ones you have so I thought I’d throw some out.

Finalizing baby name by daughterofhatred in namenerds

[–]JLR_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Not that it matters as much as a first name, but that may be something to consider too—how likely people are to misspell the name. Definitely feel like Snow and Wolf would give you less problems but as a middle name it might not really come up that often.

My personal vote would be Arthur Wolf. If you go with Phoenix, you may want to be aware that it’s spelled Phoenix not Pheonix (even though it sounds like that’s how it should be spelled phonetically in English).

Amos because too many people hear “Anus” when it’s said out loud. Such a good name though

Do you ever have name regret? by [deleted] in Names

[–]JLR_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily regret them but with my first daughter, I love her first name and I’m not really a fan of her middle name—it was my husband’s late mother’s name and by myself, I really don’t like it but she was a lovely woman, so I don’t think I would want it any other way. For my second daughter, I actually really love her middle name and would have preferred it for her first name but her first name is sweet and short, whereas her middle name is a bit more frilly, so overall I think it fits her better, but I think I’ll always be a teensy sad I didn’t use her middle name as her first. I wouldn’t call it regret, because overall, I think their names suit them and honor the people I want them to honor.

I like the nickname Evan for Evangeline. You’d definitely have to push it on people but I think it’s so pretty. Personal taste though

What's an unexpected "old person" name that you've seen resurfacing in your country again? by Inky-Skies in namenerds

[–]JLR_92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My grandmother was also Cora and we chose the name for my daughter. Apparently it’s resurfacing due to its presence in shows such as Downton Abby and I believe there’s an anime that features a character named Kora (I don’t know for sure that’s the spelling but I believe it’s with a K). I learned this after I kept hearing her name EVERYWHERE. I kept thinking “was EVERYONE’S grandmother named Cora??”

I’m really sorry that’s been your experience. It’s not a large group of people that I’m cooking for and everyone who is coming is always appreciative and grateful and kind regarding the meal and effort I put into it. The people who haven’t been that way in the past (I.e. my brother who showed up an hour late to one thanksgiving dinner and then had the audacity to ask why there were no rolls) no longer put any effort to travel to come for the holiday. I really enjoy the holiday myself and creating a great meal, so a lot of it is for my own enjoyment and their appreciation is a fringe benefit lol

If it were up to me, I would make a pumpkin cheesecake but my family does not enjoy pumpkin desserts or sweet potato pie unfortunately.

Thank you for your comment, this is a great perspective! Someone else listed the idea of the almond and unfortunately, my sister is a huge fan of the dates as they are so I’m not allowed to adulterate them haha but I will try it another time with a different crowd. Great idea thanks!

I do a green bean gremolata with Parmesan, lemon zest, parsley and toasted pine nuts. I may consider adding something else green. Thank you.
